When will 'NCIS' Season 18 Episode 3 air? Here's what to expect when Fornell returns to hunt the drug kingpin

Worry not, there are still three more episodes listed in whatever's left of this year and before the show finally wraps up for its official midseason aka winter break

After that enticing, adrenaline-pumping ride that was the introduction to Gibbs and his beloved comrade Ducky's friendship, anticipation builds up for what's to come. But we have some sad news for you all. Unfortunately, the CBS procedural is taking some time off immediately after airing its 400th episode.

That's right, 'NCIS' is officially that old — not that the fact that it's on Season 18 should have alarmed us or anything, but with over four centuries of episodes, the drama has decided to take a backseat from airing next week for obvious reasons. Wondering when the show returns and what to expect from it when it finally does? Worry not, we've got you covered.

So a little birdie called the bird app, or Twitter if you will, tells us there's no 'NCIS' in the coming week of November 28. According to CBS, the upcoming episode 'Blood and Treasure' will air on Tuesday, December 8, at 8 pm on CBS. The reason why Season 18 Episode 3 won't be airing in the coming week as we stated earlier is of course that it's the very obvious Thanksgiving week.

CBS is probably giving fans time to enjoy some much-needed family time — be it in person (for all the daring ones) or over Zoom. They know in this pandemic era, people prefer close and loved ones over the constant binge-watching and being glued to the television and other screens that have been part of the quarantine routine. Probably why the network decided to call its long-term famous procedural off airing in the coming week.

But worry not, there are still three more episodes listed in whatever's left of this year and before the show finally wraps up for its official midseason aka winter break through the holiday season.

CBS was also kind enough to share an official synopsis for the upcoming episode that we will now have to wait two weeks for: "The discovery of two dead bodies in a forest leads the NCIS team into the wild world of modern-day treasure hunting; Gibbs and Fornell get deeper into their search for the opioid kingpin."

The return of Tobias Fornell has been highly anticipated as he had specifically asked his friend Gibbs for two weeks' time after disappearing from the ide of a dead druggie's body with a mysterious key that could potentially lead him to the kingpin, so that case is finally heading somewhere.

Additionally, this little brush with his past in Episode 2, and Ducky's words of alarm also made Gibbs reconsider his stand on love and relationships, thus giving us hope for some development on the oft teased romance between him and Jackie Sloane. Hopefully, that bond will evolve or culminate to something too before Maria Bello exits in the middle of this season.

'NCIS' Season 18 airs on Tuesdays at 8 pm on CBS.
