As the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown continues, fans are patiently waiting for 'NCIS' to cure their quarantine blues. However, a new development on this front indicates that the fans will be disappointed to know that on Tuesday night the CBS procedural is not airing at its regular time slot. Season 17's Episode 20 titled 'The Arizona' that was supposed to air on April 7 has been delayed.

NCIS will not air on CBS for a week and this comes after it was revealed that the season's usual 24-episode run has been cut short to just 20 episodes after production had to be stalled amid the pandemic outbreak. But worry not, we've got you covered when it comes to all the relevant info regarding when you can expect to see the epic finale.

The next episode of 'NCIS' Season 17 will air next week on Tuesday, April 14, at its regular 8 pm slot only on CBS. Episode 20: 'The Arizona' is expected to be the last episode at least for a good while until the lockdown is lifted and production is resumed. The hiatus came before the show could finish filming the rest of the season, hence the limited number of episodes in their kitty.

The news came from the procedural's cast member Brian Dietzen who tweeted, "Unfortunately we’ll be shutting down production of NCIS for the remainder of the season after we wrap tomorrow. We’ll produce 20 of our 24 episode order. It’s been a tremendous year and we have a few more great episodes for you all. Thank you so much for all the support.”

Another cast member, Sean Murray, who plays Timothee McGee also mentioned that the rest of the episodes are expectedly going to be a part of the procedural's next Season 18. He shared on Twitter, saying, "As many of you have already heard, #NCIS production has been put on hold for the time being. We will wrap our current season with 20 eps complete and plan to pick up where we left off when we begin season 18.”

While not much has been revealed about the upcoming finale, TV Line has teased that Christopher Lloyd as a character called Joe Smith as a 95-year-old former Navy sailor who served on the USS Arizona and had survived the Pearl Harbor attack. While CBS is yet to release an official synopsis for the finale, the outlet shared, “Determined to have his ashes laid to rest with his fellow sailors when he dies, the ‘sharp, spry and unapologetic curmudgeon’ (Smith) becomes the focus of an investigation and confounds Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon) and the entire team, who are not sure if they can believe him.”

It doesn't say much apart from that meaning the rest of the action that pans out is being kept all hushed up for fans' added pleasure because really, the last thing we need during quarantine is our favorite shows getting spoiled.

'NCIS' Season 17 airs on Tuesdays at 9 pm only on CBS.
