'Chicago Fire' Season 10 Episode 15: Fans skeptical of Sylvie's future

Talks of Kara Killmer's departure began around the time her on-screen partner Jesse Spencer left the show in mid-October 2021

Romantic angles impact character trajectories significantly at times and 'Chicago Fire' is no stranger to romance. In fact, the firefighter drama has always managed to sprinkle just the right amount in most episodes, if not all. Inching towards the end of Season 10, 'Chicago Fire' has seen some major developments relationship-wise. 

With Stella Kidd and Kelly Severide due to get married soon, Violet Mikami and Evan Hawkins having done all but put a label on their relationship, and Sylvie Brett going strong with Matthew Casey, things seem to be going steady. However, Episode 15 of 'Chicago Fire' Season 10 might have hinted at a character leaving Firehouse 51 because of their relationship or could see that very same relationship be a reason for a former series lead to return. Titled 'The Missing Piece', Episode 15 of 'Chicago Fire' Season 10 began with Truck 81 being summoned to the site of an industrial fire, where they find Seager partially buried under the rubble. She's rescued daringly by Severide, who seems rather disturbed by the mishap. The crew returns to Firehouse 51 and we see Sylvie leave eagerly to hop on a video call with Casey, while Severide stays back to investigate the site, finding evidence that hints at the mishap to be premeditated. Seager and Severide probe further into the origins of the fire, and we see Sylvie in tears, expressing an overwhelmingly strong urge to meet Matthew in Oregon.

By the time the episode ends, Sylvie makes up her mind and breaks the news to Violet and Stella that she's leaving for Oregon and that she will be gone for a while. Her decision seems to have set Twitter on fire, with some fans guessing that it's a sign of her departure from 'Chicago Fire'. "Sylvie is gone now too?? I didn't want her and Matt to break up but I dont want her to go!! I wish we had more warning she was leaving??? Wth 😭😭😭 #ChicagoFire #OneChicago," a fan tweeted.

Another seconded, tweeting "I understand Sylvie wanting to be with Casey but I don't want to say goodbye to another character #ChicagoFire."

"What will we do without Sylvie until she returns? and my next question/assumption is- will she be out visiting Casey for the rest of the season? #ChicagoFire," a fan questioned.

An upset but understanding tweet read, "Aww my heart hurts if Sylvie isn’t gonna be there, but for her and Casey to be reunited makes my heart happy. #Brettsey #ChicagoFire #OneChicago."

Stans of the couple couldn't get any happier, with one tweeting, "GO BE WITH YOUR MAN SYLVIE! It’ll be sad not seeing her every week, but Brettsey being together again, even if it won’t be on screen, makes me happy! #ChicagoFire."

"#Brettsey forever!! Sylvie is going to be with Casey in Oregon, but I know she’ll be back because I can’t deal with Kara leaving permanently. Anyways Brettsey is endgame, Brettsey is love, Brettsey is life. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. #ChicagoFire," another fan of the couple said.

Some seemed to look at it even more positively, predicting Casey's return with a tweet that read, "There’s the set up. Sylvie is temporarily leaving and will come back for the wedding with Casey #ChicagoFire."
