The ‘One Chicago’ franchise has been really popular for the network and continues to see more and more viewers tuning in for shows like ‘Chicago Fire’, ‘Chicago PD’ and ‘Chicago Med’. That’s one of the reasons why NBC has renewed its deal with creator Dick Wolf and has decided to keep him with Universal Television, a unit of NBC Universal Content Studios for another five years.

Release date and how to watch

The tenth edition of ‘Chicago Fire’ will be airing exclusively on NBC on Wednesday, September 22. According to Futon Critic, the show will take its usual primetime slot of 9 pm EST. Viewers can subscribe to NBC on various streaming services such as Hulu, Peacock, FuboTV, and YouTube TV.

If you are not based in the US, then you might have to use a VPN to watch the series.

Plot

The plot of the show is simple. The Chicago Fire Department will take on new cases and stakes will be higher this time around because fans would want the makers to tie all the loose ends of the previous edition. The network has already released the synopsis for Season 9 premiere and it reads, “Firehouse 51 deals with the aftermath of the capsized boat rescue. Gallo (Alberto Rosende), Ritter (Daniel Kyri), and Violet (Hanako Greensmith) discuss plans for a side gig.”

The upcoming season will be really special for all the actors and the crew members because the show will be airing its 200th episode.

Spoilers

Season 9 ended with a couple of massive cliffhangers. The future of Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) and the entire team is in jeopardy. During the finale, we get to know that Boden has been approached to take on a bigger role. He has been contacted for the role of deputy district chief role. It will be difficult for him to take that decision because he has been an inspirational figure in the community and also, shares a great bond with the members of Firehouse 51.

A few moments later, we get to see Boden calling Deputy Commissioner Gloria Hill to give his answer but fans never get to hear the conversation, meaning viewers would have to wait for Season 9 to arrive for the big revelation.

On the other hand, Severide, Cruz (Joe Minoso), Capp (Randy Flagler), and Tony (Anthony Ferraris) were suited up in their scuba gears to save the life of a victim trapped in a capsized boat. As soon as they reach the victim, the problems also get bigger and bigger. Their exit is blocked as the boat began collapsing on them. In the final moments of the finale, we see that the water level has risen above their head and the episode comes to an end as the screen fades to black. So, the upcoming season will provide answers if they were able to make it out or not.

Cast

As of now, all the original cast members are returning for the tenth season. NBC hasn’t released any statement about any actor leaving the show. Jesse Spencer will return as Matthew Casey while Kara Killmer will be back as Sylvie Brett. Meanwhile, David Eigenberg will return to portray the character Christopher Hermann and Christian Stolte will reprise the role of Mouch.

Other actors to come back for the tenth season include Taylor Kinney (Kelly Severide), Miranda Rae Mayo (Stella Kidd), Eamonn Walker (Wallace Boden), Joe Minoso (Joe Cruz), Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter), and Hanako Greensmith (Violet).

Creators

The long-running series has been created by iconic producers Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead. Meanwhile, it is developed by the duo of Derek Haas and Michael Brandt. John L. Roman, Todd Arnow, Tim Deluca, Hilly Hicks Jr., Carla Corwin, and Michael Gilvary act as producers on the show.

On the other hand, Wolf, Brandt, Matt Olmstead, Danielle Geiber, Derek Haas, Joe Chappelle, Arthur W. Forney, Peter Jankowski, Andrea Newman, and Reza Tabrizi serve as executive producers.
