'Nancy Drew' Season 1 Episode 3 impresses fans with its complex mysteries: 'The show clicked for the first time this episode'

For many fans, the highlight of the episode was just how they solved the puzzle Tiffany had devised for Nick

Possible spoilers for episode 3 of 'Nancy Drew' titled 'The Curse of the Dark Storm'

The third episode of The CW's 'Nancy Drew' pulled us deeper into the mystery of the two murders haunting Horseshoe Bay.

The official synopses of the episode read: A nor'easter hits Horseshoe Bay and Ace warns everyone that the storm has been known to blow restless spirits ashore; Nancy confronts Nick about the secrets he's been keeping.

Through the episode, we discover parts of Nick's past—how he came to have the tag of an "ex-con" and what exactly had happened the night of that murder. It is through Nick's story that we also get to know more about who Tiffany Hudson was—the woman who was murdered outside The Claw making Nick and the rest of the gang prime suspects in the murder.

The episode also did some major foreshadowing on Ryan Hudson and his possible connection to the Dead Lucy murder case, and also his eagerness to get hold of Tiffany's money in order to clear out his debts.

The highlight of the episode was just how they solved the puzzle Tiffany had devised for Nick. Fans, who were only giving The CW show a chance so far, genuinely enjoyed this episode. "I actually enjoyed the mystery-solving part of this episode. I think I may stick with it a little longer."

In a classic Nancy Drew fashion, 'The Curse of the Dark Storm' included everything we expect from an investigation by the teen sleuth—hidden wall safes, secret compartments, tricky puzzles and trickier clues. "Okay this is pretty solid mystery-solving I'm enjoying this," said a fan. "I felt like the show clicked for the first time this episode," said another. "Ok episode 3 of #nancydrew impressed me. Wasn't sold on Nancy or Nick but stayed for the mystery. kinda glad i did now. also congrats on scaring the bejeezus out of me (and Ryan) with Dead Lucy," said one.

Another aspect of the show that fans are appreciating is how each episode unfolds one character after the other and how it provides them with notes to solve the mystery by themselves. "Each episode seems to be about a different character. Last George, this Nick, next Beth," pointed out a fan.
