‘Name That Tune’ Episode 4 saw legendary tunes being played by bandleader Randy Jackson while the host Jane Krakowski kept the contestants Danny and Asabi on their toes. The 2021 version of the show tests contestants’ music knowledge as they battle it out in an assortment of challenging musical games for cash and prizes.

Each episode will consist of two stand-alone half-hour contests, each pitting two players against each other as they race against the clock to test their knowledge of songs, performed by the live band. The first two rounds in the game is a guessing round and a bidding round. The contestant that makes the most money in the first two rounds goes on to play the Golden Buzzer round and wins prize money of $100,000.

The two participants on Wednesday, January 27, episode were, Danny from Detroit, Michigan while Asabi is from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Danny grew up in a household of music aficionados as his dad and brother are music pastors spreading happiness through songs. Asabi on the other hand is a vocal director in a burlesque group whose confidence was applauded by Krakowski. Both the participants charmed the host as Asabi made Krakowski do burlesque while Danny taught her how to hula-hoop. Danny also confessed to hula-hooping every day for the last three months that made him lose almost 30 pounds.

Their backgrounds in music made them neck-to-neck competitors. Asabi was leading in the first round but Danny was soon to catch up in the second round. In the ‘Bitter Note’ round, Danny managed to guess more songs and moved on to the final round. When asked what he would do if he won the prize money of $100,000, he said he wanted to live the “American Dream.” He said he wanted to settle down, have a family and live the American dream like everyone else.

In the golden medley round where a contestant needs to guess seven tunes one after another and if the participant makes a wrong guess, the game is over. Danny passed on two tunes and guessed one tune wrong. He thought the tune was from the ‘Frozen’ soundtrack while it was One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’. However, he could still take home $72,000.

Some of the hits played during the episode that made the audience sing along were ‘Under the Sea’ by The Little Mermaid, ‘Tiny Dancer’ by Elton John and ‘You Sexy Thing’ by Hot Chocolate. The vintage musical game show, 'Name That Tune', first premiered on NBC Radio in 1952. Originally created and produced by orchestra conductor Harry Salter and his wife Roberta Semple Salter, the series featured contestants competing to correctly identify songs being played by an on-stage orchestra or band.
