Dr Brad Schaeffer has changed the lives of his patients forever, and in the latest episode that aired on September 24, he had a chance to meet Mark West and turn his life around. West said he had nails that looked like "claws" that were ready to "attack" someone. The father of six came to the show as a last resort to save his nails.

Opening up about the situation, Mark revealed his nails got so bad because he neglected them. He confessed about not paying attention to his feet to the point that they were out of control. His wife, Melinda West revealed his nails had become so hard that even nail clippers would break.

However, that was not the only problem he faced due to his nails. Mark revealed his leg would often pain as the strain on his feet would get unbearable. To make things worse, he is unable to wear shoes for a long time as the nails would often hit the shoe and cause pain. Being a father of six, Mark stated he wants to be there for his children.

Unfortunately, that has not been possible for him as the pain on his feet tends to increase if he is on his feet for a long time. After hearing this, Dr Brad decided to have a look at his feet. He realized Mark's nails were curling up and looked hard. Melinda further added that his nails would often smell like "food in the back of the refrigerator."

After analyzing the condition Mark's feet were in, Dr Brad suggested it would be best for him to undergo a surgery. He explained Mark had a fungal infection of toenail known as onychomycosis. Dr Brad thought that the only option Mark has is to remove the nails and then apply medicine to ensure they do not grow back.

At first, Mark was shocked to hear this as he did not expect his toenails to be removed. However, Dr Brad explained how the infection could not be treated using any pills. Hearing this, he realized the best option for him would be surgery. Mark agreed to undergo surgery and Dr Brad assured him they would get to the process once the lockdown has lifted.

'My Feet Are Killing Me' airs on Thursdays at 10:30 pm ET on TLC.
