Dr Ebonie Vincent has been helping her patients via virtual meetings ever since lockdown was imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the latest episode (October 15), Dr Vincent met with Emily Flores, a patient who has been suffering from immense pain and discomfort due to her foot.

Speaking to Dr Ebonie, Emily revealed she was diagnosed with spina bifida when she was nine. Due to this condition, her pinky toes curled up. The doctors at that time gave her hope by stating that a surgery could fix the toes and make it normal. Without hesitation, Emily decided to go along with the procedure.

Recalling the surgery, Emily said that two rods were inserted inside her pinky toe in the hope that they would regain their lost shape. She was asked to keep the rods for a couple of months. Unfortunately, the surgery did not help as the pinky toes were right back to the place where they first started before the surgery.

When Dr Ebonie had a look at her feet and she was shocked to find out that her pinky toes were completely under her foot and were bearing the weight of the entire body. She empathized with Emily as she was quick to realize how much pain she would be in. Emily admitted that she had been meaning to seek help for a long time as she wanted to keep up with her two-year-old son.

She further added that life like this had been painful and she just wanted to taste what normal life would feel like. Looking at how the surgery did not help, Dr Ebonine suggested they do the amputation. She explained that since the surgery did not work, this might help her feel better.

However, she assured Emily they would look at other options and see if there is anything else that is possible. Emily admitted there were times when she wanted to chop her pinky toe off and wondered if things would be better then. She confessed the pain had been unbearable and that had led to this thought.

Dr Ebonie said the amputation will help get rid of the pain she had been suffering. She suggested they meet once the lockdown is over and then start the process.

'My Feet Are Killing Me' airs on Thursdays at 10.30 pm ET on TLC.
