For the people featured on '600-lb Life', their lives are far from easy. Apart from weight and health issues, they often depend entirely on another person to help them with everything. It is usually a family member or a spouse burdened with these responsibilities and if the patient is not willing to lose weight or change their lifestyle, it only puts strain on the relationship.

Dr Now has truly changed and transformed lives, however, what he requires is for the patients to be honest and serious about their journey. If they cannot lose the initial 50 pounds on their own, Dr Now turns them away from the program. For 36-year-old Lacey Buckingham, Dr Now remains unsure of her desire to lose weight and he is not the only one.

Lacey's boyfriend, Ricky, has been a constant support, even though they have been together for a relatively short while. Ricky has been helping Lacey in every way possible, including helping her with intimate tasks. So when it came to Lacey seeing Dr Now, Ricky was very supportive, even getting his sister, Sharon to drive them from Washington to Texas for the appointment. However, as an older sister, Sharon has been rather protective of Ricky, seeing that he is an emotional epileptic, as she explains it, saying that emotionally charged situations trigger his seizures. To Sharon, Lacey uses her brother because she needs to be taken care of while she does nothing for him in return.

During the first car ride to Houston, Sharon called Lacey out on her behavior, criticizing her for not losing weight. Sharon truly snapped during their second trip when she found out that Lacey missed an appointment earlier in the year. Lacey made excuses about money and not getting tickets, which angered Sharon, who put her life on hold to transport Ricky and Lacey.

Fans sided with Sharon for calling Lacey out on her excuses. "#my600lblife #600lblife. Sharon driving these two for 3+ days in that car is like a steel cage deathmatch. And she pooped herself!!!!! Someone is going to die!!!!!" tweeted a fan, seeing that during the first trip, Lacey soiled herself. "Sharon may be the "realest person" I have ever seen on #600lblife. She is trying to protect her brother and calling out all the BS," tweeted a fan. "#600lblife #my600lblife. I bet the second Sharon got back in town, she parked herself at a local bar for days and drank insane amounts of alcohol to forget the entire trip." tweeted a fan. "I'm just waiting on Sharon to lay hands #my600lblife #600lblife" added another. "I think Dr Now should offer Sharon a job, she is brutally honest #600lblife #my600lblife" tweeted another.
