'Mr Robot' Season 4 Episode 9 'Conflict' promo shows Whiterose call Elliot to talk about Angela, raising speculation she might be alive

Whiterose picks up the phone and tells Elliot: "I was hoping we could talk. It's about your friend, Angela," as Philip Price, who has come to the Deus Group meeting to resign from his CEO post, turns to look at him. Angela, as you remember, is Price's daughter

Wait, who? That is the reaction most fans had when the sneak peek trailer for 'Mr. Robot' Season 4 Episode 9 dropped this week in which Whiterose calls our intrepid hacktivist Elliot to talk about "Angela".

Turns out that Darlene (Carly Chaikin), Elliot (Rami Malek) and yes, Mr. Robot (Christian Slater), are all ready to execute the hack but Darlene voices her worry: "You think they're on to us?".

And of course, since it is Whiterose (B. D. Wong), she has an ace up a sleeve - Elliot's childhood best friend Angela (Portia Doubleday)... you know, the one who died in episode 1 of this season?

He picks up the phone and tells Elliot: "I was hoping we could talk. It's about your friend, Angela," as Philip Price (Michael Cristofer), who has come to the Deus Group meeting to resign from his CEO post, turns to look at him.

Angela, as you remember, is Price's daughter and her death is the main reason he has turned away from the Deus Group and is helping Elliot instead. This means Angela's "death" in episode 1 could have been a fake-out and that Whiterose has her safely in custody as leverage over Elliot and Mr. Price.

There is also this shot of a mysterious (bald) man, who is a Deus Group member, who fans are speculating, is the real and not-so-dead Edward Alderson, Elliot's abusive father. Previously, Whiterose has also spoken about how she and Elliot are on the "same side".

Given that Whiterose's primary trauma is related to her dead lover and his obsession is "hacking time", it brings the alternate timeline theory right back on the table. Angela's name being mentioned has also renewed fan speculation about Tyrell Wellick's (Martin Wallström) encounter with the blue-light in the forest after being shot.

Since his "death" was never shown, like Angela's death (which was shown on the periphery of the blurred camera's frame), we really don't know what tricks creator Sam Esmail has up his sleeve.

'Mr. Robot' Season 4 Episode 9 'Conflict' airs on Dec. 1 at 10 p.m. ET.
