It wasn't an easy episode of 'Moon Knight' to watch as it focuses on the dark and troubled past of Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac). What this does while bringing out the tragic past that led to the creation of a meek and timid Steven Grant who was the focus for the major part of the first chapter. While the episode does have some humor trickling in, the sad storyline makes it rather unnoticeable and forgettable pretty quickly. However, what stands out is the mesmerizing and lends more depth when the final chapter comes into focus.

The penultimate episode takes the focus away from the battle raging on between Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) and Leyla (May Calamawy). The afterlife and Tawaret, the God who holds the power of rejuvenation, and can also bring back the dead to life. The scales that decide the fate of Marc and Steven take center stage as the two delve into each other's life stories and eventually unravel the truth that Stevens was the avatar that was created to have rather happy memories of his childhood.

What makes the episode gut-wrenching is the way one of them is let go in order to tip the scales in their favor. While the next episode will surely put him in the present against Harrow and his goons who are bent on reviving Ammit, this episode leaves us with the rather bittersweet moment of bringing an end to one of the avatars. Whether this means bringing in Jake Lockley remains to be seen. As usual, there is no end credits scene yet, but it is interesting to see how it ties to the rest of the MCU.

We're still not holding our breath on the 'Eternals' connection.
