Who is R'Bonney Gabriel?
The 28-year-old Miss Texas USA has many other talents up her sleeve besides pageantry. R'bonney Gabriel is also a passionate fashion designer who owns her own label, R'Bonney Nola. She designs everything from t-shirts to dresses and uses sustainable practices for her designs. She has garnered attention by designing her looks for the pageants she enters, including Miss Texas USA 2022 and Miss USA. R'Bonney has also made headlines for being the first Filipino-American to be crowned Miss Texas USA, representing her Asian culture and roots on the Miss USA stage. She currently teaches sewing at the Magpies and Peacocks fashion house in Houston, teaching students how to sew different things using fabrics and textiles from remnants. The talented beauty leads classes that are part of the nonprofit's MAKR Collective program, which offers various life skills to trauma victims, such as domestic violence survivors, in hopes that they can learn a new skill.
R'Bonney Gabriel on Miss USA 2022
According to R'bonney, she wants to use her fashion design skills to create her unique garments to wear on stage at the 2022 Miss USA pageant. In one of her posts on Instagram, the beauty queen shared how she redesigned a dress from an old red coat that she wore at the opening of the Miss Texas USA pageant. She told UNT North Texan, "I thought this would be a good way to push sustainability in the beauty industry," and R'Bonney continued, "I'm not afraid to be experimental and enjoy bringing in a surprise element." Asked about the upcoming Miss USA pageant, she added, "I want to encourage others to find their uniqueness - to apply themselves in life and find what makes them special."
Miss USA 2022 is all set to premiere on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 8 pm ET and 5 pm PT.
