'Mirzapur' Season 2: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about Amazon Prime's crime drama
Spoilers for 'Mirzapur'
The Indian thriller 'Mirzapur' first premiered in 2018 and has garnered a huge fan base, with some claiming it's better than 'Sacred Games'. The plot line of this series is excellently portrayed by talented actors as it chronicles the life of two brothers who are immersed in a life surrounded by drugs, undue violence and the mafia. While the season of the acclaimed crime drama was filmed in 2019, there were reports confirming that Farhan Akhtar, an executive producer on the series, had revealed that it would premiere sometime in 2020. Thanks to the ability of most productions being able to start during this pandemic, there is now an official release date for 'Mirzapur' Season 2. Here is all you need to know about the upcoming season.
Release date
'Mirzapur' Season 2 will premiere on Friday, October 23, 2020.
Plot
The Season 2 synopsis as revealed by Amazon Prime reads: "They say that revenge is a dish best served cold. Mirzapur is a dream, and it shall come true. The wait is finally over! A whole new season full of thrill, suspense, action, and drama." There were nine episodes in the debut season of the action crime thriller, so fans are hoping that the second installment will release the same amount of episodes.
According to most fans, it is hard to say what Season 2 of the series will hold for us. Although, we are expecting that the plot will further explore the ins and outs of the mafia. According to Express, Aktar revealed, "The characters were people that you can relate with and of course the drama. The end of each episode was very important, it was very smartly done. It is the kind of raw, grit, drama, very rough and that is something."
He further added, "I want to say we are very excited about doing a season two and we are very much excited about how successful the first one was, and hopefully, with the right people season two will be if not more (successful).” As we know, in Season 1 Sweety (Shriya Pilgaonkar) and Bablu (Vikrant Massey) were killed by Munna (Divyendu Sharma) and that calls for revenge against the Tripathi family. Maybe Guddu (Ali Fazal) lights that torch. Not to mention, there is a possibility that his life could be in danger too, considering he murdered Rati Shankar Shukla (Shubrajyoti Bharat). His enemy? Sharad (Anjum Sharma) of course. So, it's safe to say that while we may not have all the details for the upcoming season, it definitely will be a thrilling one.
