LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Can a Miner convince a shark  from the tank to invest in strength training technology? As baffling as that query may sound, viewers will soon have an explanation when they watch Missouri University of Science and Technology alumni MT Strickland represent his firm on ABC's 'Shark Tank' on January 13 at 7 pm CST. Braxton Davis, an active gym goer since college, began thinking about how he might track his strength training routines more efficiently than using a wristwatch or fitness tracker a few years ago. Metric Mate was created as a result of his search for an easy solution to gather precise workout data without having to write it down.

Metric Mate is a digitally data-driven fitness firm founded by Ecleamus Ricks, Braxton Davis, and MT Strickland. They are going to the 'Shark Tank' stage to determine whether the sharks are interested in acquiring ownership in their firm.

What is Metric Mate?

Metric Mate is a data analytics startup that transforms any strength training equipment into SMART equipment using its unique Metric Mate TAP Sensor and smartphone apps. Metric Mate, led by three Morehouse grads and supported by the Atlanta Accelerator, Techstars, employs data analytics to alter, connect, and recover the user's mind, body, and spirit at any time and from any location.

Metric Mate is a training accountability platform that provides two novel products to assist customers in improving their strength training routine: the TAP Sensor and the TAP Assessment.

The TAP Sensor is a smart gadget that connects to strength training equipment such as selector-weight machines and free weights to track and record vital information about the user's sessions. This covers reps and sets, calorie burn, force effort, muscle exhaustion, rep tempo, power level, and other factors. The TAP Sensor is simple to use and has a removable pin for selector-weight machines, as well as a clip and strap for free weights. The TAP Sensor helps users better understand and enhance their exercises by converting any strength training equipment into 'smart' equipment.

The TAP Assessment is a 15-minute full-body exercise that employs the TAP Sensor to measure the user's muscular exertion, tiredness, and output. This evaluation can be completed every 7 to 30 days to give metrics that follow the user's fitness journey. A professional trainer conducts the TAP Assessment, which is offered at places convenient for both the trainer and the client, utilizing the Metric Mate TAP Sensor and app. The exam consists of 3–5 activities and offers a baseline and progress report to demonstrate to the user how their training is assisting them in improving. The TAP Assessment is an excellent resource for personal trainers, physical therapists, strength coaches, sports programs, and anybody interested in tracking and refining their fitness journey.

Metric Mate, in addition to providing goods and services for personal trainers, hosts monthly and quarterly tournaments in which users can participate. Users must take TAP Assessments every 30 days to be eligible for these competitions. The contests give users an additional degree of incentive and accountability, as well as the opportunity to earn rewards and recognition for their hard work and achievement.

Metric Mate is a comprehensive and creative platform that assists users in improving their strength training routine and meeting their fitness objectives. Metric Mate is a great companion for anybody wishing to take their training to the next level, thanks to its TAP Sensor and TAP Assessment, as well as its tools and resources for personal trainers and competitive possibilities.

With the advent of new rehabilitation technology, there is a greater emphasis on improving results, boosting patient compliance and safety, and restoring athletes to pre-injury performance levels. Metric Mate allows you to compare an athlete's force-time curve and kinematics to measure force application during certain phases of movement, as well as employ phase-specific data to characterize performance kinetics. This allows you to detect kinetic performance deficiencies and give recommendations to increase performance.

Metric Mate is much more detailed, displaying not just immediate force exerted, but also force applied over time for several repetitions and force applied over the range of action. This information may be utilized to assist patients in increasing their force production, muscle endurance, and lifespan. You may help patients heal more quickly and effectively by putting this data in the hands of a skilled expert.

Metric Mate provides a variety of tools and information for physical therapists in addition to its products. The Guided Workouts link allows you to instantly upload a patient's recommended workout regimen into the app, allowing them to recover from wherever they are. Although the software is free, the TAP gadget costs $199. As of the initial air date, the Metric Mate was only available for pre-order from their official website. Metric Mat app is available on Appstore.

Where is Metric Mate now?

Metric Mate, which was founded in 2017 with the goal of helping everyone get in shape and live healthier lifestyles, has a customer roster that includes regional gyms, expert trainers, and athletes ranging from high school to professionals. The firm, led by three Morehouse Men, has persisted to become a Georgia Top 40 Innovative Company and has been given three patents so far.

"Handling the hardware and understanding it is one of the benefits of Georgia Tech that we now have — the ability to draw on those things you learned in college to create something new," Ecleamus noted. They will then explore methods for their patented technology to aid in physical rehabilitation, and they are always working on additional features and enhancing the platform's accuracy. This team also has its own podcast, 'The No Cap Table.'

Metric Mate has a lot of positive feedback from those who are passionate about fitness and pretty much everything else. "I would be 100% sold on joining a gym because they had this tool," says Candice Lovelace, Military Sealift Command Operations Officer, US Navy.

Metric Mate's presence on 'Shark Tank' marks the beginning of a critical year in the company's continuing growth. "It was an incredible feeling to showcase our technology platform on a national stage. We've worked hard to make this a reality," said Ecleamus Ricks, Jr, chief technology officer.

Who will steal the deal?

It's unclear whether the TAP gadget is still in development or whether there are supply chain concerns. If it's pre-revenue, the men may have a difficult time in the Tank. If it isn't, they may receive an offer or two. Shark Lori Greiner will most likely decline, citing "too early." Shark Barbara Corcoran has already been burnt by fitness items and tries to avoid them; she may be out as well. Sharks Tony Xu, Kevin O'Leary, and Mark Cuban are the only remaining choices. Tony is a wild card; no one knows what his inclinations are. Kevin will very certainly make a royalty offer. If the technology is sound, Mark may also bid. If the firm is not yet profitable, it may be forced to leave empty-handed.

'Shark Tank' Season 14 Episode 11 airs on ABC on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 8 pm ET. Catch the latest episode featuring products like Metric Mate, Kinfield Insect Repellent, Wildwonder Sparkling Probiotic Juice Drink, and Cabinet Health Sustainable Healthcare.
