Contains spoilers for 'Merry Happy Whatever' Season 1 Episode 2

The second episode is titled 'Harmony' and we see that the family isn't in tune with each other at all. With Kayla losing it because of her divorce, Patsy slipping into depression for not being able to conceive and Joy suspecting Sean of cheating on her, it is a madhouse.

As Don continues to shame Matt for trying to be a part of the Quinn household, Matt does not give up despite being thrown around. Matt marches into the Quinn family without knowing what he is signing up for.

He asks Don directly and formally, considering that he is deeply rooted in the traditional ways of life, for his permission to marry Emmy, to which he declines.

Don is a clingy father and he is hell-bent on dissing Matt to prevent his daughter from marrying him. Well, Emmy still does not know that Matt is going to propose to her on Christmas.

This brings us to an understanding that Matt is on a personal mission to crawl into Don's good books and earn his trust along with the help of "Outlaw-In-Law Quinns" (Joe and Todd).

He observes that Don sheepishly flirts with Nancy, a nurse at the hospital. He also notices the blooming chemistry between the two and the way they give remarks to each other. Only a fool would deny that there's something cooking between the two.

It is clear that Don has feelings for Nancy and is just living in denial about it. His wife passed away three years ago, and he thinks that if he goes out there once again, it would not be fair to his late wife.

It would be cheating of sorts for him. But then, he is still trying to move on with his life and whatever is left of it. His frustrations and passive aggression is a result of living in denial for three years.

His loyalty cannot be questioned as till the time he was married, he loved his wife so much. But after her passing, life had become a tad bit monotonous on him. His soul's comfort zone is being around his family because nobody else will ever know what he is going through.

When opportunity knocked on the door, Matt seizes it only to embark on a mission that will benefit everyone in the family, especially Don because he's lonely and deserves a companion.

The only problem is that nobody else but Matt knows that sparks are flying between Nancy and Don. Is Matt planning on shipping the two in order to gain Don's trust to marry his daughter, Emmy?

Catch the premiere of 'Merry Happy Whatever' on November 28 only on Netflix.
