While MCU gears up for the release of Scarlet Johansson's 'Black Widow', there has been steady progress on the 'Hawkeye' miniseries as it landed a projected start date for principal photography. CBR reported the series is expected to begin filming this July.

It was also reported that 'Mad Men' writer Jonathan Igla will serve as the miniseries' showrunner and executive producer. As far as casting news goes, barring Jeremy Renner's return, there hasn't been any concrete news of other actors yet.

The series is expected to be an adaptation of Matt Fraction, David Aja and Javier Pulido's 'Hawkeye' comic book series, which primarily dealt with Clint Barton on his days away from the Avengers and depicted him as a regular, down-on-his-luck kind of guy just trying to help keep his neighborhood safe while constantly getting swept into side missions and made fun of by Kate Bishop. There have been rumors milling that 'Bumblebee' star Hailee Steinfield will play Kate Bishop in the series, but nothing has been confirmed so far.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said the show will explore more of Barton's time as Ronin and the consequences of his actions. The show was announced during the Marvel Studios panel at SDCC which unveiled Marvel's timeline of planned Phase 4 movies and shows. The panel gave audiences their first look at 'Hawkeye's title card with an animated teaser, which Renner shared on social media, though the show itself will be a live-action event series.

Hawkeye is scheduled to premiere in fall 2021. Disney+ is now available in the US.
