'Avengers: Endgame' broke our hearts when we saw Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) die to save the world from Thanos. However, we'll be treated to a scene featuring the self-proclaimed 'Genius. Billionaire. Playboy. Philanthropist' in 'Black Widow'.  For now, what we do know is the spy-thriller will be set between 'Captain America: Civil War' and 'Avengers: Infinity War'. According to Digital Spy,  it is already possible the level of Stark's involvement was teased in a trailer shown at SDCC and D23 Expo.

The site was in attendance and here is the description: "It (The trailer) opened with a montage of Black Widow in the MCU to date, ending with a scene between Romanoff and Stark from 'Captain America: Civil War.'" This could possibly be when Stark tells Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) that Ross was gunning for her as she let Steve Rogers escape. This could be the point where we see some more of the extended footage between the two. From what we know, the duo doesn't cross paths until 'Avengers: Endgame'.

Also, there is a one year gap between the events of 'Civil War' and 'Infinity War' meaning Natasha may have reached out to Stark for help, however, given that she and Stark weren't on the best of terms, it's unlikely he would have come in to help. So in all probability, this would be just an extended cut from 'Civil War'.  For now, it is just a lot of speculation, but the working theory of all the ones that have been dished out so far is that 'Civil War's extended footage is when we see Stark coming in.

'Black Widow' is directed by Cate Shortland, written by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, and stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, alongside David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz.

What are your thoughts on Tony Stark's role in 'Black Widow'?

'Black Widow' is set to release on May 1, 2020.
