'The Eternals' may see Gemma Chan's Sersi romantically involved with Black Knight, Ikaris and even Makkari

In the comics, the Eternal Sersi (played by Gemma Chan in the upcoming Marvel movie ) was romantically linked to Dane Whitman, the Black Knight (played by Kit Harrington). Both characters are set to make their live-action debut in 'The Eternals,' leaving fans to wonder if the two will be romantically paired onscreen. However, they might not be the only romantic pairing we see in the movie — an interview with Gemma Chan suggested that Black Knight might not be her only love interest in the film.

Sersi might be linked to another Eternal — most probably Richard Madden's Ikaris — over the course of the film. Of course, that doesn't necessarily imply a love triangle, as Chan says that the immortal Eternals have been on Earth for over 7,000 years, plenty of time for Sersi to easily pursue two relationships without any overlap. Sersi has been a big part of Earth's mythology, from being the Circe of Greek myth to assisting Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table.

Speaking to Vanity Fair Italy, Chan spoke about the movie's plot. "Specifically, it is the story of a group of immortal aliens, who arrived on Earth seven thousand years ago, so the plot takes place in a very long period of time," she said. "Sersi is the one that has the most affinity with humans, indeed is even involved in two love stories, an absolute novelty for Marvel events and one of the reasons that attracted me to this project."

In the comics, Sersi has also been in an on-again, off-again relationship with fellow Eternal Makkari, who will be played by Lauren Ridloff in the movie. Though the Makkari of the comics is male, the MCU version will be a female dwarf. It would be the first openly queer relationship in the MCU if portrayed onscreen.

'The Eternals' is set to release in theaters November 6, 2020.
