'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 fans brace for major finale twist as Iris's phone calls to Mike raise suspicion
LANSING, MICHIGAN: 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 is becoming increasingly intense with each episode, as Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) and Iris (Emma Laird) confront a mounting series of challenges.
'Mayor of Kingstown' has a history of sometimes killing off female characters to ensure that the male characters receive sufficient focus and development within the series, and it seems Season 3 is no different.
This season continues the trend, with plot developments suggesting that female characters may once again face dire outcomes to advance the storylines of the male protagonists. Rhonda (Nona Parker Johnson) was also killed off to propel the series forward.
Now, fans fear that Iris may face a similar fate. In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 Episode 7, Iris called Mike. Konstantin's (Yorick van Wageningen) men grew suspicious and questioned her about who she was contacting. She claimed she was calling family, but it seemed that Konstantin and his men were already suspicious.
Why 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 may be setting up Iris's death
In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 Episode 8, Konstantin asks Iris to leave because he believes it’s not safe for her, especially after the bus accident where several girls were killed.
However, why does Konstantin suddenly want her to leave? His sudden concern for Iris’s safety might not just be out of genuine care.
Konstantin's plea for Iris to leave came only after she made the secretive call to Mike. Konstantin might have a hidden agenda behind asking Iris leave.
Perhaps Konstantin knows Iris is collaborating with Mike and wants her out of the picture. By asking her to leave, he could be setting a trap. His plea for her to go away might not be out of concern for her safety but rather a strategic move to eliminate a potential threat.
During her journey, Konstantin could plan to have his men intercept and kill her. This scenario would allow Konstantin to remove Iris without raising suspicion.
If Mike learns of Konstantin’s plot to harm Iris, he might consider collaborating with Merle Callahan (Richard Brake) to either kill Konstantin or get him arrested. However, this would be a complex and dangerous undertaking.
The stakes would be incredibly high, with the potential for significant fallout affecting everyone involved.
Fans fear for Iris's fate as tensions rise in 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3
Various fans have taken to Reddit to discuss Iris's fate in 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3. A fan wrote on Reddit, "Iris getting killed would be the most Iris thing ever. I don’t get her storyline and there’s been no growth- so we would have to suffer through her just to see her go lol."
Another fan wrote on Reddit, "I am struggling to determine how she contributes to the plot anymore." While another fan said on Reddit, "It's pretty clear Iris is not making it out of this show alive."
One fan wrote on Reddit, "I feel both her and Mike will not make it this season. Iris has run her course as a character, this season they keep finding ways to include her but her going back to crime life seems a disservice to her character. They keep alluding to her leaving Kingstown so by the end, they should either fulfill that allusion or kill her character off. As for Mike. I mean how long does he keep evading death when every mob knows he's actively working for the cops/SWAT TEAM 's benefit while trying to keep them at bay."
A fan commented on Reddit, "Iris's days are numbered. It's just a question of whether it's this season or further down the line."
Another fan said, "The actress is very pretty in an interesting ethereal way. Otherwise, aside from getting to look at her pretty face, the character is sucking the life out of me! Somebody shoot her please! (And please don't let her go in a tortuous gruesome way, she's been through enough."
Another fan commented on Reddit, "I have a feeling Iris tipped off whoever killed the girls to set up Konstantin's defeat. We still don't know for sure who did it, other than it was likely not Bunny/the Crips. But Iris being obsessively fixated on images of them since the recovery of the bus and remains and her frequently crying seem to me to be expressions of guilt. It would flush with what we know of her character and maybe even what we don't know - there is still whatever it was in her record that she was terrified of Mike finding out."
Another fan wrote on Reddit, "I have a feeling Iris tipped off whoever killed the girls to set up Konstantin's defeat. It is definitely Milo."
A fan expressed frustration on Reddit by saying, "No they need to keep her alive so she can be saved by Mike, and then next season she’ll go back to another Russian gangster and Mike will have to save her again."
Another fan speculated on Reddit, "She’s definitely dying, and Milo is definitely going to have something to do with it."
A fan humorously speculated on Reddit, "I think she may kill Konstantin... Or, she kills Konstantin's top guy, Konstantin shoots her, and Mike kills Konstantin. She's severely wounded, and Mike is holding her head waiting for an ambulance, but we won't know if she dies. A series renewal will bring her back with a new contract, or she won't take the 50 bucks an episode and dies."
