LANSING, MICHIGAN: Since the premiere of 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3, Robert Sawyer (Hamish Allan-Headley), a police sergeant heading a team of Kingstown SWAT officers, has been depicted as increasingly violent.

His willingness to kill anyone without hesitation has introduced significant complications for the Kingstown Police Department

Robert’s behavior during the prison riots had already revealed several problems, and he was also targeted in by a gang in Season 2. In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 Episode 8, his actions escalate further, reacting in a way that could jeopardize his position with the Kingstown Police Department's SWAT team.

Kyle McLusky could derail Robert Sawyer’s career in KPD’s SWAT team

In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3, Kyle McLusky (Taylor Handley) joins the KPD's SWAT team and exhibits a notably calm and composed demeanor while performing his duties. However, Robert's approach has become increasingly aggressive and reckless.

In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 Episode 1, Robert took drastic action by hurling a bomb into the Aryan safe house, resulting in a massive explosion.

This act of aggression led to immediate and devastating consequences, with multiple fatalities among the Aryan Brotherhood members.

When Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) arrived at the scene the following morning, he was confronted with the aftermath of Robert's decision: over half a dozen dead bodies littered the area.

Mike had only authorized a raid on the Aryan safe house, but Robert's actions had escalated the situation far beyond what was initially intended.

When a bomb attack occurred outside the Kingstown Police Department, Robert wanted to kill the bomber on sight. However, Kyle took a different approach. He spoke calmly and thoughtfully to the bomber, managing to de-escalate the situation without resorting to violence.

Kyle’s method was well-received by Ian Ferguson (Hugh Dillon) and Mike, who appreciated his ability to handle the tense situation calmly.

If Kyle continues to handle situations with such composure and effectiveness, Robert’s days with the SWAT team could be numbered.

The authorities, recognizing Kyle's capability, might decide to promote him to a higher position within the SWAT team. As Kyle’s reputation grows and his effectiveness becomes more apparent, the authorities may see him as a better fit for leading the SWAT team, thereby ending Robert’s tenure.

'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 Episode 8 signals the imminent downfall of Robert Sawyer

SWAT team usually follows Mike's directives. When a bomb was hurled inside Kingstown prison, Mike instructed the SWAT team to raid Bunny's (Tobi Bamtefa) place. However, the raid yielded no results, and they were unable to find anything.

Kyle and Robert’s team were unable to locate Bunny’s weapons hideout, despite having received crucial information from Mike. The failure to find the hideout, despite the tip, underscored a significant lapse in their operation.

Robert's reaction to this failure was notably intense; he blamed Mike and Kyle for everything. His anger towards Kyle and the subsequent confrontation at work were uncalled for.

Robert’s frustration seemed misplaced, as it was Mike’s tip that had led to the search effort, and the failure to find the hideout was not solely on Kyle’s shoulders.

If Robert persists in his confrontational behavior and continues to argue with team members over such issues, it is likely to jeopardize his position within the SWAT team.
