LANSING, MICHIGAN: In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3, Iris's (Emma Laird) character continues to be shrouded in mystery. Throughout the season, viewers have been given fragmented insights into her past, revealing a troubled and complex history.

In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 Episode 3, Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner) encounters Iris in jail, referring to her as Jane Doe, a term used when someone's true identity is either unknown or deliberately hidden. Later, Ian Ferguson (Hugh Dillon) scans a report and uncovers information that Iris had been trying to keep secret.

In 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 3 Episode 2, Iris runs a stop sign, drawing the attention of a police officer. When the officer asks for her driver's license, Iris admits she doesn't have one, leading to her immediate arrest.

This situation becomes more complicated when Mike advises her to simply give her fingerprints to secure her release. However, Iris refuses, stating she cannot provide her fingerprints.

Later, Ian scans a report and uncovers information that Iris wanted to keep private. He reassures her that he will maintain confidentiality and promises not to disclose it to Mike or anyone else.

What’s in Iris's folder?

After Iris reluctantly provides her fingerprints, Ian scans her folder and uncovers sensitive information that Iris had been trying to keep hidden. Realizing the importance and potential impact of this information, Ian assures Iris that he will keep it confidential.

The report Ian discovered likely contains sensitive information about Iris's mysterious past or personal life.

One possibility is that the report details Iris's criminal history, possibly including involvement in a serious crime like murder. Ian may have promised to keep this information confidential to protect Iris from facing consequences for her past actions.

Iris's role in Milo's (Aidan Gillen) operation might have involved actions she regrets or that could have serious repercussions if revealed. While working with Milo, Iris may have been involved in criminal activities.

Iris also knows Konstantin (Yorick van Wageningen) from the past. Konstantin was involved in a murder case, and Iris dated a judge to resolve it.

Resolving Konstantin's murder charge raises questions about her past actions and motivations. Her relationship with the judge suggests she may have been involved in the murder case herself, using this connection to gain inside information and influence the case's outcome in her favor.

Her file may have provided Ian with this information. Understanding the gravity of these details, Ian may have wanted to protect Iris by keeping this information confidential.

Fans wonder if Iris's folder uncovers her dark past and hidden motives

A fan posted on Reddit, saying, "Am I the only one that is so interested in what Ian seen in Iris folder once she gave them her prints? Like I thought for sure Ian would tell Mike as soon as he seen him but so far he hasn’t said anything and it’s freaking eating me alive lol."

This comment sparked a lively discussion among fans, with many speculating about the contents of the folder and why Ian chose to keep it a secret.

A fan wrote on Reddit, "For a few episodes, I had a theory she was a plant from a government entity, CIA, FBI, deep undercover, etc. Her lack of sound judgment lately has me discarding that theory now, though."

Another fan commented on Reddit, "I kinda thought it was revealed in her file that she *doesn't* have any traumatic past to explain her lot in life. Bc I thought about what could be so bad that she would be terrified of Mike finding out - a traumatic upbringing? She already told Mike once she was raped as a child by her father. She killed or hurt someone? Mike's an ex-con himself, and he's so kindhearted toward her that he probably wouldn't even care or bat an eye. On the other hand, if it turned out that it was all a lie, that her whole "broken bird" persona was exactly that, and that she had no earthly reason to leave behind a life of privilege to become a prostitute for the Russian mob and instead just did it bc she wanted to or was bored with life or somethin? Yeah, I could see that changing Mike's perception of her, and she knows it would."

Another fan chimed in on Reddit, saying, "I thought it was hinted at that maybe there was as a connection to Merle. He said he had “a niece in town “. So, I’m thinking something related to the Aryan Nation, maybe something related to why Mike was in prison."

Another fan echoed the same sentiment by writing on Reddit, "Merle: "Iris I am your father" Oh sh*t!"

A die-hard fan of the show wrote on Reddit, "My guess was her fingerprints revealed her true identity...the daughter of Milo Sunter. She was definitely trauma bonded to him."

Another fan speculated on Reddit, "I thought maybe Konstantin was her father. He calls her princess all the time and the reason for this is unexplained."

One fan said on Reddit, "I thought maybe it was a file of her being an FBI informant." While another fan wrote on Reddit, "My original theory was that she is still a minor. That Ian saw her DOB. She acts like a child a lot. Realistically she likely murdered her father."

A fan wrote on Reddit, "Yeah I’m thinking that she killed someone probably cause of a rape or something." Another fan said on Reddit, "Yeah. My guess is that it's something sad for her that made Ian feel bad and understand. I have no idea what though. It was a pretty fast look before he closed it. Maybe she's a person of interest or reported missing. Maybe that plus her family is dead or something."

One fan speculated on Reddit, "I’m like you the first thing that popped in my head is she said her daddy raped her over and over again so maybe she killed him or had someone kill him. If not that then idk I been thinking about it or maybe she did something for Milo in New York or wherever she was before she came to Kingstown and that’s what showed up!"

Another fan said on Reddit, "I thought it was revealed that she was doing some kind of sex work blackmail for a judge."
