'Married At First Sight': Katie says Derek 'loves all the other wives', viewers call her mean girl
Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman of 'Married At First Sight' have been facing issues in their marriage but nothing that a regular couple doesn't. But things got a tad out of hand when they went for the couple's retreat.
They were settling in, taking a good look around the resort when the other couples arrived and they all sat down for a round of tequila and some dinner. But Katie wasn't feeling the vibe right from the start, especially with the Derek was interacting with Taylor Dunklin. He was being friendly, but Katie took it in the wrong way.
Later, she left the room only to be joined by Meka Jones and Jessica Studer in the other room, where she opened her heart out to them. She said what it felt like to be married to Derek and the fact that he never initiates physical intimacy, or even talks to her affectionately and sweetly like he was doing with Taylor. However, the other two lend the support she needed at the time, assured her that Derek appeared to be a "teachable" person and they should talk it out.
A little bit of jealousy could really help revive the spark in a relationship, but too much of it could be detrimental. Katie crossed the line when she said Derek loves all the other wives and not her. Everyone took it as a joke and let it go, but Derek had to follow her into another room for the second time during their first night at the resort because she would not have him talk freely and openly to another girl.
The reaction isn't unnatural especially with how she reacted to a poem and the story, in which he took a hot date to a circus to pet elephants while they were school. Derek figured she was a bit jealous of his past but took it in his stride. Little did he know, that he would be dealing with a blown-up version of the incident while they were trying to relax a bit at the retreat.
A massive fight ensued between the two, during which they called each other names and also, shared their concerns, albeit in the rudest way possible. Derek said every time he has tried to get out of his comfort zone to do something for her, she would shoot him down. Katie asked how come he wasn't the weirdo when it comes to interacting with other girls.
Meanwhile, fans are annoyed as Katie is hard on Derek, despite all the efforts that he puts in.
"Katie has no ability to self reflect. She doesn’t question why SHE does not inspire that type of passion in Derek. She thinks that her presence is enough, yet she’s a miserable person who would only inspire misery in a partner," a viewer posted, while another shared: "Katie was definitely the mean girl in school. She constantly needs attention, is selfish, and twists everyone’s words to make herself the victim. Derek deserves better."
"Derek, please, for the love of all holy. Put on your best pair of running shoes and get the hell away from Katie," another posted. "Katie pissed because other people appreciate him and she thinks he’s a loser," expressed a fan.
