'Marcella' Season 3: Meet the cast set to reprise their roles in Netflix's British Nordic-noir detective series
Two years since Season 2 of 'Marcella' aired, the mindbending Nordic-noir detective series is returning for its third season. This time around, the detective is going to be in Belfast as an undercover agent under the identity of Keira.
The dramatic conclusion of the previous season will lead to Season 3 where an undercover Marcella has infiltrated the notorious Maguire crime family to find out information about the criminal dealings of Katherine Maguire, her son Finn, daughter Stacey and son-in-law Bobby. But soon enough, the questions she is left with are different - just how much has she embraced Keira's personality and left her own self behind?
Before the series returns to Netflix on June 14, 2020, meet the stars of the British detective drama.
Anna Friel as Detective Sergeant Marcella Backland
Friel returns as the titular character. Following a very emotionally jarring Season 2, she is donning the new identity of a woman named Keira. We expect Season 3 to document the worsening of her deteriorated mental health. She also has matters to resolve with Rav and Jason and her family.
The actress is known for playing the role of Charlotte Charles on 'Pushing Daisies', a performance that won her a Golden Globe nomination. Friel has been acting professionally since the age of 13 and received praise for her portrayal of Beth Jordache on the British soap opera 'Brookside'. Her work in 'The Jury', 'Odyssey', 'The Girlfriend Experience', 'Limitless' and 'The Cleanse' is also well known. Friel has won several accolades, including an International Emmy Award, a Drama Desk Award, a National Television Award, an RTS Award, including an honorary degree, and BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, Satellite Award, Saturn Award, Genie Award and Czech Lion Award nominations.
When not acting, Friel works as an ambassador for the WWF wildlife charity.
Ray Panthaki as Detective Rav Sangha
Ray Panthaki reprises his role of Marcella’s colleague Detective Inspector Rav Sangha. Towards the end of the last season, his rescue attempt goes downhill as Marcella attacks him with a toilet seat and leaves him unconscious. With Marcella undercover this season, how does Rav deal with it?
Panthaki is known for his work on 'Tube Tales', 'Provoked', 'Interview with a Hitman', 'Kidulthood', '28 Days Later' and 'Rehab'. His directorial debut 'Life Sentence', a project he also wrote, won Best UK Short at the East End Film Festival. The actor also dabbles in theatre and has performed twice at the Royal Court Theatre in Where Do We Live? by Christopher Shinn and The Westbridge by Rachel Delahey
Nicholas Pinnock as Jason Backland

The actor is best known for his role of Leon in 'Top Boy'. He plays the lead character, Aaron Wallace, in 'For Life'. He has been acting since childhood with his first role in 1986 in 'Mr Magus is Waiting for You'. His first Hollywood feature film was 'Captain America: The First Avenger'. When not working, Pinnock is an ambassador for Mind UK, a mental health charity.
Hugo Speer as Frank Young
Speer is to return as Frank Young, who in Season 2 played the man who recruited Marcella to his undercover detective unit. He returns in Season 3 as her undercover handler Young.
The actor is known for his role of Treville on 'The Musketeers', as Inspector Valentine on 'Father Brown' and as DI David Bradford on 'London Kills'. His pastimes include falconry, walking and music. He is a supporter of Leeds United.
