MAMA 2020 Best Performers: BTS, NCT, Stray Kids, MAMAMOO, TWICE or MONSTA X, whose performance stole the show?
The 22nd Mnet Asia Music awards with the theme, Gate to New-Topia, had it all. MAMA 2020 showered the best of K-pop performances with the sharpest dance breaks, killer moves, grungy vocals and extremely energetic beats. From Monsta X to MAMAMOO’s Hwasa, from SHINee’s Taemin to the Boyz, Stray Kids, NCT-U, BTS, TXT, Treasure, IZ*ONE and more, Mnet Asia Music Awards 2020 is a serious bop fest where fans can’t decide which one is the best.
The 22nd Mnet Asia Music Awards opened with Taemin’s ‘Idea’ and ‘Never Gonna Dance Again’, with his dreamy blue gems-studded suit and a stunning performance, SHINee fans believe that Taemin proved why he is called the king of K-pop. Jessi and Hwasa came next and added fireworks to the already erupting MAMA stage, with Hawasa’s ‘Maria’ and Jessi’s NUNUNANA. Hwasa also took home Best Dance Performance solo award. Jessi won Favorite Dance Performance Female Solo.
Monsta X made fans actually "anxious" with their killer ‘Love Killa’ performance where the group cheekily sang, “Got room for one more/Oh I’m sorry, did I make you anxious? Move in a subtle way like swish/ Like hunting for prey by holding his breath/ We are flying in the repeated fights/ Turn off the red siren, now you and me shhhh.”
G-(Idle) delivered a beautiful performance of ‘Only Girl’ and ‘Dumdi Dumdi’. The Boyz set the mood of the night with their grungy ‘Beginning of the End’ performance. Ateez who snagged Discovery of the Year at 2020 MAMA delivered a banger of their song ‘Inception’. Stray Kids chose violence with their brand new rendition of ‘Victory Song’. The 4th generation K-pop sensation Stray Kids left no stone unturned to mesmerize their fans in the stunning 22nd Mnet Asia Music Awards performance with the banger ‘Victory Song’. As Hyunjin appeared in a King-feat with a crop top and long pony, fans are already bawling their eyes out witnessing the stunning beauty of the 20-year-old rapper.
JYP’s Treasure’s debut stage wowed fans followed by IZ*ONE. GOT7’s Jaebom led the dance break with suave as the group performed the “last piece” of New Topia. MAMAMOO set fire on stage quite literally with 'Dinga' as fans hailed the queens for lighting up MAMA.
Tomorrow X Together performed ‘Blue Hour’ plus ‘Dynamite’ and BTS fans were endeared by the group’s vibrant rendition of the performance. TXT also covered ‘Short Hair’ by Cho Yongpil and Park Jinyoung’s ‘She Was Pretty’. Fans took it to Twitter to express how much they miss BTS reacting to TXT’s performance.
But NCT U’s energy transcended all boundaries as the group delivered banger ‘Resonance’, depicting the tale of a new world, and Ten leading a dance break was a privilege to watch, fans said. It seems the band is ready for "world domination", isn't it?
