MAMA 2020: SHINee's Taemin steals opening show with superb vocals and sharp dance moves, fans hail King of K-pop

SHINee’s Taemin set the mood of the 22nd Mnet Music Awards. Fireworks lit up the surroundings as the K-pop singer performed from his latest solo release, ‘Never Gonna Dance Again: ACT 2'. The legendary opening performance of Taemin’s ‘Idea’ and ‘Never Gonna Dance Again’ literally set the stage on fire as the singer’s stunning voice matched his sharp moves and charisma. Taemin sported a dreamy blue suit studded with gems as he sang, "A small reflection made by reason Growing on the instinct/A dream blooming deep inside/The Shadow is holding the night and getting darker Inside my heart/Under under under/Under under under/Beautiful silhouettes Sweet Voices You make me crazy Umm/You are my messiah You are my (killing me)...”



 

Fans believe that the opening performance proved why Taemin is known as the King of K-pop. A fan said, “Taemin opening and ending MAMA at the same time.” Another tweet  read, “Taemin absolutely slayed his peformance.” Another said, “i’m genuinely going crazy taemin didn’t have to go this hard.” Yet another fan stunned by the performance said,“IDEA DANCE BREAK. can someone please explain it to me? what did we just watch? was that real? is LEE TAEMIN real?” A fan shared, “We saw another miracle ... I am infinitely proud of Taeminnie (I think it went from recording ...)” Another said, “i don’t care to hear it i don’t care to argue whoever wins whatever award taemin showed up did that and made anything else irrelevant! who is going to argue with THIS??? This time the MAMA is taking place without any live audience, a decision taken due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Descendants of the Sun star Song Joong-ki is hosting the show along with K-drama stars as presenters. A number of new groups will also have their debut MAMA performance this year, including Big Hit’s new rookie group Enhypen and YG Entertainment’s Treasure. MAMA 2020, which is taking place in South Korea this year comes, with a new theme, ‘Gate to NEW-TOPIA’, depicting a new world rule.

Taemin’s ‘Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 2' released on November 9 and garnered praise worldwide. His solo album 'Never Gonna Dance Again' Act1 was released in September 2020 featuring nine songs prior to which his third Japanese mini album 'Famous' released in August 2019.
