'MacGyver' Season 4 Episode 5 Preview: Desi goes center-field in 'Soccer + Desi + Merchant + Titan'
'MacGyver' Season 4 is finally giving Desi Nguyen (Levy Tran) the chance to be the star of a story with Episode 5 'Soccer + Desi + Merchant + Titan'. The sports-centric episode will see Desi going undercover to find someone with ties to Codex, the mysterious organization that's been haunting the Phoenix Foundation all season.
It appears Codex has found a novel way to raise funds for their terrorist plots around the world: fixing soccer matches. That might sound a bit bizarre but when you think about it, being unconventional is exactly what makes Codex so very dangerous.
Thankfully, unconventionality is the specialty of Angus "Mac" MacGyver (Lucas Till). While the title of the episode says "Soccer", the promo for the episode features casinos and gambling so we're probably in for some fun 'Casino Royale'-style sequences.
The "Merchant" in the title is the name of an actual character who will be appearing in the episode, played by 'Castlevania' star James Callis in a guest role.
The synopsis for the episode does hint at there being a corrupt player on the soccer team Desi will be infiltrating who may have ties to some of the major players within Codex. We're assuming that player is Merchant and that he will probably be bad news for everyone involved.
Here's the official plot synopsis for the episode: "In an attempt to find the main players in the Codex and cut off their match-fixing funding, Desi goes undercover to infiltrate a soccer team and find the corrupt player working with the shadow organization."
'MacGyver' Season 4 airs new episodes every Friday at 8/7 c on CBS.
