'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' is the last film that late actor Chadwick Boseman was a part of and while the loss has still left a huge hole in Hollywood, this movie, fans hope, will give them a chance to celebrate the actor that Boseman was. He stars opposite Viola Davis who plays the role of Ma Rainey, a lead jazz and blues singer of her band and Boseman plays a young trumpet player with grand ideas and a belief that he is better than the experienced instrument players who have gathered to work for Ma Raineys.

In the stunning trailer, we see how tempers flare between Levee and the other members of the band including Toledo and Cutler. He constantly belittles the band that he is working with and says that his dream band will be recording music that is not that another blues number and he tries to even direct the band to record a certain way with shines, frills, and flourishes but none of this might work. Especially not if the film has kept the plot close to the source material.

Produced by Denzel Washington, who also worked on 'Fences' another of the 1982 ten-play Pittsburgh Cycle by August Wilson, alongside Viola Davis; the trailer has definitively gained the attention of fans. One fan wrote, "Just saw the trailer for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and when Chadwick appeared on screen, I choked a little..." Another fan wrote, "The Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom trailer looked amazing. Viola looks like she crushed it and Chadwick... man looks like he’s going to do his thing per usual."

One movie enthusiast commented, "MA RAINEY’S BLACK BOTTOM now is one of my most expected films of the reminder of 2020. Viola Davis can be coming for everything. Also, it's going to be a tough visit because of Chadwick’s last performance. He will be missed. CAN’T WAIT!!" Another fan wrote about Davis, "Better start polishing @violadavis Academy Award right NOW. Saw the trailer for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, and I swear she disappeared into her character, it's impressive. It'll be out just in time for me to be done with the 'How to Get Away With Murder' rewatch I just started!" One fan of the 'Black Panther' actor shared, "I see a posthumous Oscar for Chadwick! Should’ve won one for James Brown portrayal so idrc who else is in the running, he better get this one."

'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' is slated to release in select theaters in November and on December 18 on Netflix.
