'Lupin: Part 2': Release date, plot, cast and all you need to know about the gentleman thief's return to Netflix
One of Netflix’s unlikely hits this year has been a French series. ‘Lupin’ received both critical acclaim and general popularity earlier this month, but kept fans on their toes. Its first season was meant to contain a full ten episodes. Netflix, however, only released the first five, calling it 'Part 1', and ended its initial five episodes on one hell of a cliffhanger. Fortunately, Netflix has confirmed ‘Part 2’. Here’s all you need to know about it.
Release date
‘Lupin: Part 1’ premiered on Netflix on January 8, 2021. Alongside a new poster for the French mystery thriller series, the streaming giant announced that Lupin would be making its return in Summer 2021, with a five-episode second part. An exact premiere date for Part 2 has not been provided as of yet. Watch this space for more information and updates.
Plot
As a teenager, Assane Diop's life was turned upside down when his father died after being accused of a crime he didn’t commit. 25 years later, Assane will use "Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar" as his inspiration to avenge his father.
Where ‘Part 1’ left off
‘Part 1’ ended with Assane Diop's (Omar Sy) son kidnapped by a henchman working for his greatest enemy, Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre), right when Youssef Guedira (Soufiane Guerrab) manages to track Assane down. Guedira is the only one on the force who is able to connect Assane to all of the crimes he's committed, and also figured out that Assane was inspired by Arsené Lupin books. Guedira knows Assane's name, face, and other important personal details. At the same time, Assane is nowhere close to avenging his father's death.
