The list of MTV Video Music Awards nominations for 2021 is out and fans are excited to see Justin Beiber in the lead with seven nominations including 'Artist of the year'. Closely following him is Megan Thee Stallion with six nominations, most of which recognize her 'WAP' collaboration with Cardi B. Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, Lil Nas X and first-time nominee Olivia Rodrigo are next in line with five nominations each. Lil Nas X’s 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name)' alone is nominated in five categories.

Announcing the nominations, MTV News tweeted on Wednesday, August 11, "The #VMAs are back and the Moonperson awards are ready! From @JustinBieber to @bts_bighit, @Saweetie, and more, this year’s nominees released chart-topping bops that helped us dance and swoon through a year indoors." This year's MTV VMAs will honor the 9/11 victims by collaborating with the nonprofit 9/11 Day on a series of events to promote awareness and positive action around the day’s 20th anniversary. Here's all you need to know about MTV VMAs 2021 and the full list of nominees.
