As one of the most anticipated acts of the night, BTS sure had a lot to live up to. In addition to their global superstar status, the group was also making their debut on the award show with their first performance of their latest single, 'Dynamite'. And if their Army's reactions are anything to go by, they thoroughly met all expectations.

The group's performance was recorded remotely, owing to active social distancing protocols that prevent travel and standard live performances. But watching BTS perform, it would be hard to imagine it wasn't being done on a live stage. The group's stage set and their outfits looked every bit as fresh as their music video, and fans couldn't be happier with their performance. One tweet read, "That was perfect @BTS_twt I love you so much," another said, "That’s everything we need!" and one fan shared, "That hit me like a DYNAMITE."

Taehyung has been getting a whole lot of buzz for his look with this comeback. One fan said, "TAEHYUNGS HAIRSTYLE AND OUTFIT I'M SCREAMING!" while another shared, "Damn BTS is cool as f***." The group also counts singer JoJo — among several others — as a fan, as she stated while watching BTS perform, "It's just pop perfection."

The Army got to see the choreography in full with this performance and evidently adored it as much as they did the song. One shared, "The kicks are AGGRESSIVE!" while another said, "THIS CHOREO IS EVERYTHING."

BTS' VMAs debut was a huge success and they've clearly done their fans proud. One shared, "I’M SO PROUD OF YOU GUYS YOU’RE SO TALENTED." But as fans celebrated, some couldn't help but notice that the VMAs played Blackpink's 'How You Like That' following BTS' performance, and most thought it was a shady move. "WHY'D THEY PLAY HOW YOU LIKE THAT AFTER BTS’S PERFORMANCE PLS," asked one fan. Others, however, chose to ignore the drama and focus on their idols, stating, "ANYWAYS BTS ATE."

In addition to BTS, the star-studded lineup for the night includes performances from Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Chloe x Halle, The Weeknd, and many more.
