How many times have you seen a movie about a DNA test leading to murder conspiracies? There sure are plenty of stories where the protagonists go searching for their biological parents but not many stories lead to the protagonist being victims of freak accidents, kidnapping, or even attempted murders. ‘Adopted In Danger’, earlier titled as ‘Killing Your Daughter’, is a distinctive story that explores the dangerous aftermath of a DNA test.

When Candace (Allison Paige) finds out about her biological father, she decides to face him and confirm the news, hoping to finally connect with a family she can call her own. However, Tom Mason (Jason Brooks), a real estate big shot, instantly denies. This makes Candace doubting under more doubt her very identity. Being a doctor, she resolves to keep digging until she gets to the truth. This leads to a deadly aftermath, even killing one of her friends. As the truth eventually comes to light, it is one of the most unexpected and shocking revelations that you would expect.

While the underlying plotline and the possible twists and turns seem all great, there is a great lack of speed when it comes to the flow of the story. Usually, with a thriller movie, you expect a few power-packed scenes, faster movement of plot points, and so on. But ‘Adopted In Danger’ had anything but these key ingredients which make a movie not just good, but great. Too many filler scenes (that's what we would like to call them) further slows down the tempo. And suddenly, at the end, sudden inclusion of action scenes makes the climax a bit too rushed.

However, it would not be fair to end our take without talking about our lead protagonist Candace. Played by Allison Paige, she manages to keep us hooked to her character and despite the many flaws, she makes it a worthwhile watch.

In simpler, shorter words, ‘Adopted In Danger’ had a lot of promise and would have been an exceptional movie, provided there was a little more sharpness in execution and a fast-paced plot.
