'Levius' Season 2: Here's what could happen in Netflix's action-packed anime show

The Netflix adaption of 'Levius' was released on November 28. There is much speculation that Season 2 will release in May 2020.

The Netflix adaptation of the 'Levius' manga dropped on November 28, with 12 action-packed episodes. The story revolves around Levius, who is a war-time orphan, taken in by his uncle and grandmother. War has cost him his arm as well his mother, and how he sports a cybernetic arm.

After an epiphany at a young age, he is enticed by the deadly sport of MMA (Mechanical Martial Arts) and is determined to make his comatose mother proud of him. Quiet, sensitive and yet rather stubborn, Levius will not stop at anything to achieve his dream, even if it means putting his life at stake.

While the show remained partly true to the story, the first ended on a more positive note, as compared to the manga. In the show, Levius wins the final battle against AJ, who is being controlled by the sinister Dr Clown. Dr Clown is the head of Amethyst Corporation, who took AJ under his wing on the last day of war, and made her his "research" study. Levius strikes a deal with Dr Clown, saying if he wins the battle, Clown must let AJ free. However, if he loses, he will also be taken in by Clown and become another puppet like her.

Clown has rendered AJ practically indestructible in the battle arena, as she has two steam generators in her system, and one is below her heart. Zack learns and tells Levius about this during the battle. Levius delivers one final punch to AJ and wins the battle. He then hits out at Dr Clown and discovers he's an automaton. The show ends on a positive note, as AJ recovers and Levius is all set for his next battle. Rumour has it, Season 2 is in the works too.

So how would Season 2 go? Will the stakes be higher? The sequel to Levius has something else in store for Levius's team.

Interestingly, the sequel to Haruhisa Nakata's original work, Levius/est takes another route, that rehashes the events of the first series, while paving the path for an epic battle that will determine the fate of the world. It has been a year since the terrible battle between Levius and AJ. Though Levius survived, he is unconscious and in terrible pain. AJ has no memory of the events that led to the battle. Whether the show chooses to adapt this or not, remains to be seen.

The fate of the world depends on Levius, and Zack does everything to jog AJ's memories as she is the only one who can bring Levius out of his state. She is aware of the destruction she caused under Amethyst's influence. AJ undergoes tutelage with Zack and Bill, and they wait for Levius to recover.
