“I’m so sorry, but unfortunately, I will be out of @FunnyGirlBwy today,” she captioned the post, featuring her hand over her son and a stuffed animal. “We are at the hospital with our son dealing with a scary health issue that I need to be here for. Lea Michele back as Fanny Brice on the weekend
Following the departure of Beanie Feldstein as Brice in August 2022, Michele assumed the lead character in the well-known Broadway musical. Variety reports that in December 2022, the musical revival, which had a difficult first leg, shattered the August Wilson Theatre's all-time box office mark.
On March 25, the singer was back as Fanny Brice as she uploaded a video while dressed in costume, and said, "Hi everyone. I'm saying a quick hello from my dressing room here. I'm back at Funny Girl tonight." She continued, "I'm really happy to be back. It's been a really long week and we're still not out of the woods completely with our son, but he's headed in a good direction and we're really really grateful."
Soon after, the show's own Instagram page made the announcement that read, "Lea Michele will be out of both the matinee and evening performance today, Wednesday, March 22. Julie Benko will be your fabulous Fanny!"
