VANCOUVER, CANADA: A new bombshell docu-series based on the hit Fox series 'Glee' reportedly claimed that Cory Monteith, who died in 2013, relapsed just weeks before his death as a result of an "anonymous co-star" urging him to try drinking at a party. ID's new docuseries, 'The Price of Glee', claimed that Monteith "resented" the thought of drinking. Hower, he complied with this co-star, which "took him on a path to destruction."

Dugg Kirkpatrick, who was working during Season 3 of 'Glee' in the hair department, was Monteith's hairstylist. He reportedly dropped hints that the star's relapse, which ultimately led to his death, might have been caused by a cast member, who has not been named. The stylist said that even after he left the show, a lot of the male cast members continued to visit him for hair appointments. Among them was Monteith, who came to him just a few weeks before he died.

“He was clean all the way up until he asked me for that haircut. He wasn’t drinking, he didn’t have any drugs in his system. But then, in the end, in the very last couple days that I saw him, he was different. He was under the influence of alcohol,” Kirkpatrick said, according to The Daily Beast.

Kirkpatrick claimed that he became friends with Monteith after he exited 'Glee' and while the series was being filmed, the actor would often open up to him about his troubles, while the last haircut he gave him was the most unsettling. “He said he was at a party and hadn’t been drinking, and he wanted to have a drink, but he knew he shouldn’t. He was told by a certain cast member that night, ‘If you want to have a drink, you should have a drink. I’ll be here, you can trust that I’ll always be here,’” he reportedly claimed.

Kirpatrick continued that this was a dreadful decision as a close friend "would never say that to anyone who was sober," and Monteith had only recently gotten out of rehab. “That confused him and made him mad. But he did, he started drinking because he was given permission by somebody that he loved. He resented it, but he also took the direction. It took him on a path to destruction,” he added.

A few weeks after that, Monteith was found dead at the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver from a "mixed drug poisoning," including heroin, alcohol, codeine and morphine. Monteith had had substance problems as a teenager before he went on to star in 'Glee'. He had been receiving treatment just four months before his death.

While speaking about Monteith, Kirkpatrick also spoke about his then girlfriend Lea Michele. The co-stars began dating in 2012. “I think Cory’s confusion had a lot to do with his relationship with Lea Michele. I don’t know that she was a friend. I think she was involved with him because he was on a TV show,” Kirkpatrick reportedly said. However, Monteith was dealing with other issues at the time, including the desire to broaden his profile and star in films, according to his roommate Justin Neill. The actor was "upset" since he had to decline a lot of offers coming his way due to 'Glee'. This was despite the fact that he was "sick and tired" of performing songs. “I specifically remember this being after Season 2, where he wanted to enjoy some part of life, but he’s just non-stop going, going, going. Cory seemed like he was getting more and more neurotic, and more isolated,” Neill reportedly said.

The 'Glee' star confessed he was "stressed out about dancing" and "coming up to the level of other people that were on the show," according to Monteith's friend and fellow actor Stephen Kramer Glickman. The need to fulfill the requirements of the program, according to Glee director of photography Christopher Baffa, may have "exacerbated" the problem and caused Monteith to relapse. Glickman also disclosed his final email conversation with Monteith. "How have things been??" Glickman inquired through email to Monteith. “Life has been beyond real for me. Every day better than the last,” Monteith said in response. Then, Monteith died days later, confusing Glickman. “My first reaction was blame. Who I blamed immediately was not him. I still feel like there’s someone to blame,” Glickman reportedly said.

'The Price of Glee', a three-part documentary, sheds light on Mark Salling, Naya Rivera and Monteith's deaths, as well as Michele's response and Blake Jenner's co-star Melissa Benoist's allegations of domestic abuse.
