Lea Michele expecting first child with Zandy Reich as she finds happiness four years after Cory Monteith's death
Celebrations and congratulations are in order for Lea Michele, the 'Glee' actor and singer is expecting her first child with her husband, Zandy Reich. News about her pregnancy broke a couple of hours ago on April 27. Although the couple has yet to confirm the news, a source close to them confirmed the happy news.
"They've always wanted to be parents," affirmed the source to People.
Michele and Reich started dating each other in 2017. They met at Lea's friend, TV executive Stephanie Levinson's wedding. He was a friend of the groom and the two were seated next to each other at the event and that is where their paths crossed for the first time. Lea revealed that even though they didn't interact much at the event, the subsequent months had them bumping into each other a lot especially since they had a lot of common friends. They eventually started dating and in April 2018 they got engaged. Sharing the sweet story about how she met her fiance, Lea gushingly said, "It really all happened when I least expected it. It's a pretty awesome story."
Lea was dating her 'Glee' co-star, the late Cory Monteith who played Finn Hudson on the show. The actor died tragically due to an overdose in July 2013 sending fans of the show as well as his co-stars and more so, Lea, into a state of absolute grief and shock. Lea and Monteith made their relationship official in 2012, after years of speculation about the two being together and them denying off-screen romance. The couple were almost inseparable after going public with their relationship and it seemed like nothing could tear them apart. But came the year 2013 and Monteith checked himself into rehab for drug addiction in April.
"I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision," was the statement issued by Lea in support of Monteith's decision. He checked out of the facility at the end of April after completing his stay. The couple's last public outing together was on June 8 at an event in LA and the following month on July 13, Monteith was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver.
The two were head over heels in love and living together and even though there were reports that said that the couple were considering marriage and were practically engaged, Monteith's tragic death put an end to all of that. Lea didn't say much about Monteith's passing till October 8 that year where she addressed his death during a Glee panel with costars Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch, as well as show creator Ryan Murphy. She did keep a low profile in the subsequent months but slowly started working towards piecing her life back together. The following year in an interview with Teen Vogue she said, “I somehow feel the insane love Cory and I had for each other morphed into this strength that I have right now.”
The grief-stricken actor did go through a lot after Cory's death and it did take four full years for her to find her happily ever after but she did when she met Reich in 2017 and we wish the couple all the best on their journey of parenthood.
