After much stalling, 'LA's Finest' will be returning to Spectrum this month, and we are guaranteed much action and well, a little bit of romance, going by the looks of it. The new season was originally slated to release in June, but it had to delayed in the wake of civil unrest sparked by police violence that led to George Floyd and Breonna Taylor’s deaths earlier this year.

So, here's what is happening with Syd (Gabrielle Union) and Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba) in Season 2. According to Spectrum’s official teaser, “Syd mourns the sudden loss of a friend and struggles to find answers, while McKenna must deal with the aftermath of Izzy’s kidnapping and the rift it has left in her marriage. But when a powerful crimewave in Koreatown threatens to destroy the community, Syd, McKenna and the team must find those responsible before it’s too late.”

The show also stars Duane Martin ('All of Us'), Zach Gilford ('Night Lights'), Ryan McPartlin ('Chuck'), Sophie Reynolds ('Big Hero 6: The Series') and Ernie Hudson ('Oz'). Speaking to Entertainment Weekly back in April, Union and Alba teased what fans can expect from the second season. "Luckily, by the time we started plotting the second season, we’d gotten some of the feedback from Spectrum viewers who had watched the show, and just kind of saw what they loved, some areas that we could improve," said Union. "And we just wanted to kick off season 2 with more: more comedy, more action, juicy mysteries to solve, up the ante on our crimes of the week, and really try to include the whole cast a little more in season 2 and give a little bit more of a backstory for the other characters."

All thirteen episodes will release on Spectrum on September 9. The series had previously aired each episode on a weekly basis. Fox had announced that it will air the show’s first season — acquired from Sony Pictures Television back in May on September 21. This will lead into the network’s drama 'Filthy Rich' (9 pm), which stars Kim Cattrall of 'Sex and the City' fame as the matriarch of a wealthy Southern family that is rocked by its patriarch’s sudden death.
