'He is devastated': 'John Wick' co-star Lance Reddick’s sudden death 'knocked Keanu Reeves' hard, reveals source

An insider revealed, 'They were regularly in contact and confided about their hopes and dreams on a personal level'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The sudden death of Lance Reddick has left Keanu Reeves heartbroken. The two actors worked together on the ‘John Wick’ franchise and the late actor also played a part in the latest ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’. But his sudden death left a shockwave among his friends and family, including Reeves who was considered “family" by the late actor. Reddick died at his home in Studio City on Friday morning, March 17 at the age of 60. 

An insider told, "Keanu is absolutely devastated over losing Lance. He had a huge amount of respect for him as a friend and thought of him as one of the kindest sweetest guys he’d ever had the fortune to meet," as per RadarOnline.

‘They confided about their hopes and dreams’

The insider went on to spill, “They were regularly in contact and bounced a lot of ideas off of one another professionally, plus confided about their hopes and dreams on a personal level.” Besides, a friend shared that the tragedy “knocked Keanu” hard as the late ‘White House Down’ star apparently had not faced any health issues lately.

Reddick was survived by his wife of 12 years, Stephanie Reddick, and the two children. The source added that “it goes without saying Keanu will be there in any way he can for Lance’s loved ones.”

‘A man of grace and dignity’

This comes as Reeves remembered Reddick as “a beautiful person” during the red carpet event for ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’. He told, “Lance was a beautiful person, [a] special artist, a man of grace and dignity, and such a passion for his craft. And to have the chance to work with him over 10 years and four films is something that is very special to me and it f***ing sucks he’s not here," as per Deadline.

Director Chad Stahelski also honored him and shared, “When you have someone so close pass so suddenly it’s always tricky. He was a great man, a great human [and] we’re all just fortunate enough to have spent the last 10 years of our lives working with him."

“He was a mentor, a friend, a great human being and I think the best way to help remember him and celebrate him is never forgetting how much he touched us,” Stahelski noted.

'The John Wick series won't be the same without Lance Reddick'

Not just the popular people of the tinsel town but tributes poured for Reddick from all across the world with a fan tweeting, “Lance Reddick was such an underrated talent. RIP King 😢.” Another tweet said, “A kindhearted soul, a wonderful human, and a true friend. Be seeing you, Lance Reddick.” “The John Wick series won't be the same without Lance Reddick as Charon, the hotel concierge,” a user mentioned.

“Rest in Peace Lance Reddick. You were known for many roles. My favorite amongst them is being the voice of the great Commander Zavala. May your family and friends find peace at this time. Your legacy will live on in our hearts.#riplancereddick @DestinyTheGame,” another user posted. "Truly one of my favorite moments from my time on Castlevania. Lance Reddick was a phenomenal talent. Rest well, King 👑," a tweet added.
