Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ seems to have landed in a major crisis which might further delay its release. The ‘College Dropout’ hitmaker, who was planning to drop the album most probably on September 3 in a face-off with Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’, shared two fresh screenshots of a chat on his Instagram which tells us the reason behind the delay could be DaBaby.

Well, the ‘BOP’ hitmaker recently replaced Jay-Z’s verse on the song ‘Jail’ but now, his manager is not clearing his verse which is creating a problem for the album to be uploaded on the streaming platforms. Showing his loyalty towards the rapper, Kanye West in a screenshot shared that he won’t take his brother off from the album as DaBaby was the only one who openly claimed of voting Kanye West during his Presidential race in 2020.

Who is DaBaby’s manager?

DaBaby is managed by Arnold Taylor and the two first bumped into each other in 2014 when all DaBaby had was a Badazz Boosie’s feature. The rapper went with the moniker Baby Jesus at the time. Taylor was raised on the south side of the city on Archdale Road. He first got the taste of music while working at a record store in the early '90s. Speaking about the same, the now founder and CEO of South Coast Music Group told the website Clture, “for me the music stuff started during high school, but not really the business, just the love of music. It started from working in the record store. I started really seeing the power of music. And at that point retail was it. Everyone who came into the city came into the record store."

Shedding light on his first meeting with DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, he asserted, “When I first met him, he was just trying to figure it out. He already had the Boosie feature and went to South by Southwest. South by Southwest was the first thing that made him want to be an artist. He started to see he was getting love there.” He added, “I just needed the fearlessness in him, he’s just fearless…We need to come in loud and aggressive, and we gotta make Charlotte believe. It can’t be someone timid and shy.” It was their 2017 mixtape ‘Back On My Baby Jesus Sh!t’ that caught the attention of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. After getting impressed with the raw street storylines, they got picked by Interscope in January 2019.

Kanye West stands tall with DaBaby

Kanye West sent his fans into a tizzy the moment he shared two new posts on Instagram hinting that he was willing to go to any extent to stand with DaBaby. In the first screengrab, the chat starts with his manager Abou 'Bu' Thiam saying, “On another note, DaBaby’s manager not clearing ‘Jail’. So we won’t be able to upload unless we take him off.” The manager then asks Kanye, “What’s your thoughts?’ To this a curious 44-year-old rap icon reverts. “Why he won’t he clear jail? The rapper’s manager then replies with a disappointment saying, “I don’t know and neither is answering there phone.”  Kanye then replies, “I am not taking my brother off. He was the only person who said he would vote for me in public.”

Kanye West then seems to be asking, “So, the album is not coming out” adding “Did you know about this?” “Hell nah I ain’t know. Ima hit em now, “reverts the manager.  Kanye then shared an optimistic note on the chat stating, “Yo manager cap. They tried to stop you from coming in. The people next to you trying to destroy you.” He concluded, “But God gotta bigger plan.” Thiam then wraps it up with, “A plan that can’t be stopped.” For the unversed, fans were left stunned when they got to know that Kanye had replaced Jay-Z’s verse with DaBaby’s on ‘Jail’ during the third listening party of the album in Chicago. Also, DaBaby’s manager not clearing the verse might be due to his ongoing controversy over the rapper’s homophobic rant at the Rolling Loud Miami festival 2021.

What did DaBaby’s manager say about the controversy?

Hours after Kanye Shared the screenshots, Arnold Taylor took to his Instagram denying his role in the song not getting released. While sharing the same screengrab, he captioned the post as, “This is CAP, I woke up this morning to this social media bulls**t. I never got a call or email from @kanyewest @__bu @johnmonopoly I just received it today and Cleared it in 2 seconds.” He added, “Why wouldn’t I want a hit song out when #SCMG is all about the growth and culture of hip hop and my artist!!! To all of the media blogs and outlets don’t believe everything you see in a post, thank you!!! #SCMGShit”.

‘What the f**k r u doing with these f**king texts man just add Jay back’

Hip-hop fans logged into Twitter as soon as Kanye West uploaded the screengrabs. One user stated, “Kanye West is scrapping a watch the throne reunion and a legacy song for jonathan "dababy" f**king kirk.”  Another user spoke about DaBaby, “Just another reason to hate him” whereas, one user added, “I guarantee you DaBaby isn't even registered to vote, he's just a yes man to Kanye.”

The next one posted, “Removed Jay Z and now won’t release the album just because Dababy voted for him lmao.”  Another user added, “Remove dababy what the f**k r u doing with these f**king texts man just add jay back holy s**t u are really never gonna give us wtt2 im sick.” While one user concluded, “We dont want dababy on the album anyway, last track they did together was a**. just release the album.”
