LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kaley Cuoco and David Oyelowo, in Prime Video's latest release 'Role Play', play a happily married couple whose life takes a dramatic turn after the husband comes to know that his wife is an internationally wanted contract killer.

Directed by Thomas Vincent, 'Role Play' was released by Amazon MGM Studios via Prime Video on January 12, 2024.

However, despite Bill Nighy receiving praise for his exceptional acting, the movie has faced criticism from fans who find its storyline predictable and describe it as "corny."

Kaley Cuoco disappoints fans in 'Role Play'

Kaley Cuoco's performance has turned out to be a major displeasing factor for the viewers. Criticizing her lack of ability to bring freshness in her films, an X user wrote, "Cuoco is the same character in everything she acts in..." Another tweet reads, "Role Play was a waist of time farce. I like Kaley but come on," while someone added, "Yes...very predictible, and tad corny...Kaley as Arnold in, True Lies."

While the film revolves around Kaley, it's Bill Nighy, with a limited screen appearance, who steals the show.

An X user exclaimed, "Wow, Bill Nighy is absolutely fantastic in Role Play on @PrimeVideo". Sharing a similar point of view, someone tweeted, "Bill Nighy is so cool."

What is the plot of 'Role Play'?

Emma Brackett (Kaley Cuoco) is a suburban wife and a loving mother, living with a false identity for years. She and her husband, Dave Brackett (David Oyelowo) decide to spice things up by indulging in a role-play to mark their wedding anniversary.

On the date night, Bob Kellerman (Bill Nighy) identifies Emma as the Internationally wanted criminal and blackmails her. She ends up killing him and an investigation follows.

While Emma escapes the city to avoid getting caught, Dave comes to know that she is a contract killer who has been hiding her true identity for eight years.

'Role Play' is streaming on Prime Video.
