The third episode of ‘The Voice’ Season 20 continued with the blind auditions where we saw the very talented contestant Jose Figueroa Jr. mesmerising the judges with his soothing voice. Decked up in a sharp formal attire, the New York native crooned Billy Vera & The Beaters' ‘At This Moment’ to show his exceptionally well singing skills.

The 34-year-old singer, who identifies himself as a gospel artist, got a turn around from John Legend within a few seconds. Looking at the performance and the excitement on Legend’s face, it seemed Jose might earn a four-chair turn but unfortunately that did not happen. After much deliberation, Nick Jonas turned around his big red chair but Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson remained unturned till the very end.

Who is Jose Figueroa Jr.?

Jose Figueroa Jr. got a lot of praises from Legend and Jonas and both tried their best to convince the versatile crooner to pick them as their coach for the rest of ‘The Voice’ journey. Speaking on the same lines, Nick jokingly said, “I cannot have you pick John Legend. It will break my heart. I cannot sleep tonight.” And, it looks like Jose got influenced by his statement as he ended up picking Team Nick as his coach. Surprisingly, Blake Shelton had also extended his support to Team Nick which is usually not the case.

Speaking of Jose, the Christian gospel artist might be from New York but he is currently based in Kissimmee, Florida. He has been singing publicly since age six and has a won multiple awards including winning the Apollo Theater Amateur Night in 2010 and the Staten Island Gospel Festival in 2012 and 2014. His Instagram bio reads, “Multi-Award Winning Gospel Recording Artist.” He had earlier released an all-covers album called ‘Love Conquers All’ in 2010 and then dropped ‘The Peace Project’ and Spanish album ‘Paz Y Serenidad’ in the year 2015. Interestingly, he also flaunts his other skills apart from singing. Jose is a singing coach, model and acting coach. He is also a wedding and party planner, make-up artist, hairstylist and Zumba instructor.

As soon as Jose’s performance on blind auditions ended, a lot of users rushed to Twitter to share their opinion on the same. One user said, “What.... omg I thought he was John's already omg... Jose wow.... let's get it #TeamNick #TheVoice” Another added, “HOLY MOLY Jose Figueroa Jr. !! YOU BETTA SANGGGG!!! Ok. Ok. Found my favorite.”
