HERTFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND: Jonnie Irwin of 'A Place In The Sun' recently provided a tragic update regarding his cancer battle. Irwin recently revealed feeling "weak" and having "terrible" memory as a result of having stage 4 lung cancer. The 49-year-old presenter was given about six months to live after receiving a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis in August 2020 that had spread to his brain.

"I'm weak now, fragile and my memory is terrible... but I'm still here," Irwin candidly admitted in an interview with The Sun on Thursday, March 16, while opening up about his lung cancer. Irwin, who celebrated him turning 50 early, said he felt "sporty" but he is getting frustrated with how feeble he has grown. He chose to celebrate his 50th birthday early with a magnificent party attended by 170 friends and family even though his actual birthday isn't until November.

'I felt like a granddad'

Irwin stated, "I tried to play football with Rex the other day and was in goal and I couldn't get near the ball. It was so frustrating. I'm very sporty and suddenly it's just like... it was as if it was the first time I'd attempted football. I felt like a granddad. And that broke me a bit."

Irwin resides in Hertfordshire with his wife Jessica, 40, and their three children, Rex, three, and twins Rafa and Cormac, two. During the interview, Jessica described how Irwin began to apologize the instant he arrived home and informed her of his terminal diagnosis. Jessica said, "He couldn't stop apologising. He kept saying 'sorry' over and over and I just kept telling him it wasn't his fault. I think I'm still in denial about a lot of it if I'm honest." Irwin announced revisiting 'A Place in the Sun' set by posting a snap on his Instagram on Sunday, March 5.

'My wife can't quite believe it!'

Irwin shared a photo of his outfit and wrote, "Selecting wardrobe for @aplaceinthesunofficial LIVE Tomorrow in Manchester. It's an early start and as I'm not fit enough to run for the train atm I'm prepping the night before. My wife can't quite believe it! Cold weather calls for wool, wool, and more wool." Irwin also mentioned that he would be reconnecting with Jasmine Harman, a fellow host from 'A Place In The Sun'. "It's also are rare thing for @jasmineharman and myself to both be there on a Sunday so please coming along and we'll hopefully see you there," he wrote.
