Dakota Fred Hurt decade-long reality TV journey
Just four days before Hurt revealed his cancer diagnosis, he went to his Facebook page to comment on his early days on 'Gold Rush'. He discussed how a Season 2 episode of 'Gold Rush' nearly destroyed his livelihood. This show made it appear as if he took a claim and destroyed some miners' lives, resulting in hundreds of death threats, which the FBI verified put him in peril. Now, 12 years later, he has returned to protect his reputation.
Hurt stated that he completed video and audio recordings of what actually occurred and that he will write a book about the event. He wrote in his post that "some things that you see on TV programs are “produced." He claimed that everything that happened in that episode was the result of an editor's "overactive Imagination." It remains to be seen whether he will have time for his biography now.
