Johnny Depp's lawyer Ben Chew revealed what he perceived to be some of Amber Heard's legal team's shortcomings in evidence, following the high-profile trial. He went through Heard's films and images that were cited as evidence during the trial, suggesting that there were discrepancies between what Heard's lawyers said they revealed and what the evidence truly was.

"They loved the video of Johnny slamming cabinets, that's not tantamount," he explained. "Even that video itself, it was taken by Miss Heard. What's the motive to do that, to show your spouse in a less than favourable moment?" Chew also criticized Heard's visual evidence, claiming that her accounts of injuries didn't match what was presented as evidence.

Chew stated, "She was taking a lot of pictures but they weren't pictures of the types of injuries that she was describing. I think there was a real disconnect between what she was describing and what was depicted in the photographs."

If there was "anything remotely like the violence that she described," Chew added, there would have been more apparent bruises because Depp always wore big rings on both hands. He claimed that if Depp had struck her in the manner she described, she would have suffered "really grave injuries."

'The Pirates of the Caribbean' actor recently won his defamation case against Heard, who was ordered to pay $15 million in damages, which Judge Penney Azcarate later lowered to $10.35 million. Depp was sentenced to pay Heard $2 million in damages in a separate decision stemming from a counterclaim she had filed against him.

Depp had filed the case against his ex-wife in response to an op-ed she wrote in The Washington Post in 2018 about her experience with domestic abuse. Despite not being identified in the publication, his legal team maintained that the story implied Depp was physically and sexually abusive during their relationship. Depp's defamation lawsuit against Heard was for $50 million, while Heard's countersuit was for $100 million against her ex-husband.

Following the outcome of his defamation suit against his ex-wife, the actor stated that he is 'moving forward' with his life. Heard plans to appeal the verdict, and her lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, claims that her client cannot afford to pay the damages.
