If you have been missing John Mayer’s fresh music then you are in for some good news as the singer-songwriter and guitarist has announced his brand new album after a gap of four years. Air date

Sharing the release date with his close to two million followers on Twitter, Mayer simply wrote, “Sob Rock. July 16.” Fans can also pre-save the album here.

How to live stream

Once released, fans will be able to tune into Mayer’s brand new album ‘Sob Rock’ on leading streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal and YouTube.

Concept

Mayer might not have dropped an album in four years but he did treat his loyal fans with singles like the platinum-certified ‘New Light’ in 2018 and ‘I Guess I Just Feel Like’ and ‘Carry Me Away’ in 2019. If we talk about his new album, NME reports that the 43-year-old crooner had first teased his latest full-length project on one of his Instagram stories in May 2021. He had said, “I assure you it’ll all fire up very soon.” He continued, “I’ll put it like this: every day you have to go without my new music is another day I can work harder to make sure it gets heard by as many people as (sic) might enjoy it” adding, “I hope you’ll think it’s worth the wait.”

NME also reported that ‘Your Body Is a Wonderland’ hitmaker had finished his new solo album in March when he declared it during a TikTok video. “My album is recorded, mixed and mastered. I’ve just been chilling and sharing it with friends for the past couple of months.” On the cover art of the album, Mayer channels the '80s aesthetic vibes as he decks up in a semi-casual avatar while holding his dear guitar. Mayer has also been performing as part of the Grateful Dead supergroup Dead & Company since 2015 and they had recently announced a 2021 tour kicking-off in August. And, if this was not enough, the skilled crooner is also closing a deal to host his own talk show on Paramount+ streaming service.

Tracklist

Mayer has not revealed the official tracklist of ‘Sob Rock’ yet and since he has just announced the album, fans might have to wait a little longer for the same. MEAWW will keep you posted.
