LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: If you are a fan of Ari Aster movies, chances are you aware that these movies aren’t just a viewing experience but also a journey. ‘The Strange Thing About the Johnsons’, ‘Midsommer’, and ‘Hereditary’ are a few of his works that will have you questioning life and everything that’s a part of it. The newest addition to this roster is ‘Beau is Afraid’ and it might just be his most unique movie yet.

Joaquin Phoenix, most popularly known for his role as ‘Joker', is the lead actor in ‘Beau is Afraid’. And frankly, if anyone can pull this role off, it’s him. However, Phoenix has his fair share of warnings regarding the movie and everyone needs to be paying attention to it.

Joaquin Phoenix warns audience

Phoenix spoke about ‘Beau is Afraid’ in all his recent interviews, but there was one that really stood out and caught everyone’s attention. In a conversation with Fandango, Phoenix admits that 'Beau Is Afraid' might be an unusual film, considering it’s a horror comedy, but that’s not something he is concerned about. After learning from someone in college, Phoenix was made aware that a group of people had challenged themselves to take mushrooms before watching this movie. To which, Phoenix says, “I just wanted to make a public service announcement and say, do not take mushrooms and go see this f**king movie.”

‘Beau is Afraid’ is a piece of art, and while it might be different from any movie you might have seen before, Phoenix doesn’t believe that external enhancement of any kind should be taken for this experience. In the same interview, Phoenix also said, “It is a hundred percent a movie that you feel.”

Aster has once again cast his uniqueness and magic on screen and involving Joaquin Phoenix might just have been his wisest decision in regard to 'Beau Is Afraid'. If you decide to watch 'Beau Is Afraid', take Phoenix’s advice, and leave the mushrooms at home!

'Beau Is Afraid' is now airing in theatres.
