'A Blossom reboot!'
As per The U.S. Sun, taking to her social media accounts, Mayim thanked Bryant University for hosting her and creator Reo. After the Q&A, Mayim shared a photo on Instagram with the caption: "Thank you Bryant University (and especially President Gittell & Dean McComb pictured here!) for hosting me and Blossom creator Don Reo yesterday! We had a blast talking about our respective crafts, our 35 year friendship, and answering questions about a Blossom reboot! For those of you who weren’t there, we are working on it 🤭I mean, don’t you wanna know what Blossom Russo’s been up to? 🌸 #BryantUniversity #Blossom #BlossomReboot #Whoa"
Reo has written for and produced popular shows like 'MASH' and 'Two and a Half Men', and Bialik is an author, podcast host, author, neuroscientist, director, and best known for her roles on 'Blossom' (which Reo created) and 'The Big Bang Theory', as well as co-hosting the game show 'Jeopardy!'
'We’ve been waiting for this'
Fans quickly took to the comment section to express their joy over the announcement of 'Blossom' reboot. One fan commented, "CAPTION!!! We’ve been waiting for this since sooo long aaahh" A second fan commented, "I loved Blossom, but I really loved Amy…. Would love an Amy and Sheldon update!😉" Another fan wrote, "I guess Blossom either owns a cat cafe, got the Nobel with her spouse or convinced Sabrina to get back together with Harvey so she could get Vinnie back." Someone else commented, "The reboot everyone knew they needed 🥳" One more fan exclaimed, "Loved your show Blossom growing up, named my daughter Kennedi 💝" Another comment read, "Wow. A Blossom reboot could go in so many directions. What if Blossom's kids were quirky or what if they're totally Alex P. Keaton or what if Six is still her best friend. It would be great to see her brown nieces and nephews. So many stories there....👏👏👏"
Why 'Blossom' is important to Mayim?
Actress Mayim first gained notoriety as Blossom Russo in the popular '90s family sitcom 'Blossom,' before she played Amy Farrah Fowler on 'The Big Bang Theory.' Today, more than two decades after 'Blossom's final episode aired in the spring of 1995, the cast would be reuniting for a 'reboot.'
'Blossom' debuted while Mayim was only 15 years old. After seeing Mayim in her breakout role in the 1988 movie 'Beaches,' the series' creator, Don Reo, had her in mind while developing the main character, a girl named Blossom. Bialik understood that the series was unique even though she never imagined it would become a popular sensation.
"It was centered around a girl which at the time was shocking. 'Clarissa Explains It All' was the only other show about a female and that wasn't a network show," Mayim said, adding that the series also addressed mature subjects like safe sex that, in 1990, wasn't frequently covered on television. "It was very, very ahead of its time," per ABC News.
Furthermore, it contained a group of people with similar beliefs. Jenna von Oy, who played her best friend Six, and her on-screen brothers Michael Stoyanov and Joey Lawrence were among the co-stars with whom Mayim formed bonds. She was particularly close with Stoyanov, although von Oy shared more interests with Lawrence.
