The Academy Award-winning actor chose to honor this year’s theme 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty' by dressing up as the late designer’s pet cat Choupette. The 51-year-old donned a full white furry catsuit and completely covered himself with a mascot-like cat headgear to pay homage to the iconic Burmese cat.

Shortly after, Leto removed the headgear to reveal his face before completely shedding the catsuit to display another all-black ensemble he wore beneath the first outfit. The second look comprised a semi-sheer blouse, pleated skirt, black trousers, and a dazzling cape. The ‘House of Gucci’ star was also seen greeting and embracing some of his fellow A-list guests on the red carpet, including Anne Hathaway, Lizzo, and Salma Hayek. Leto’s catsuit look sparked immediate comparison with Doja Cat, who also paid tribute to Choupette with a white Oscar de la Renta hooded gown with cat ears.

The internet was quick to react to Leto’s look for Met Gala 2023, with many trolling him for his unique choice of outfit. “He’s so unserious,” one user wrote on Twitter. “Why does he always have to do smthn like this,” added another. “Worst met outfit i’ve seen in my life,” a third commented.
