Lizzo stuns in purple at pre-Met Gala dinner party after calling out fundraising event's 'stingy' service
NEW YORK, NEW YORK CITY: Lizzo looked ravishing as she arrived for Met Gala host Anna Wintour's pre-event dinner on Sunday night, April 30. The 35-year-old rapper went all purple for the party after blasting the fundraising event for “long queue, no chairs, and no cocktails” in an Instagram Live.
The ‘Good as Hell’ singer wore a semi-sheer purple midi-dress that came with a thigh-high slit for the dinner, which was attended by Penelope Cruz, Kim Kardashian, and Sienna Miller, The Daily Mail reported. She also donned a pair of purple-tinted glasses and big earrings. To complete her look, Lizzo went for high-heeled silver sandals.

This comes as over the weekend, the actress told her Instagram followers, as per The Mirror, “There's a long f***ing line. I'm taking the glamor away from it but it's true. You've gotta wait. So you're waiting and that's the hardest part. I was sweating in a big-ass coat, my feet were hurting,” while recalling her 2022 appearance at the Met Gala in a black Thom Browne corset gown.
‘They were being really stingy’
She continued, “They don't have no chairs, no cocktails. I was like, 'B****? Can we get some chairs or some drinks or some hors d'oeuvres?” before asserting, “They were being really stingy with the liquor that night. He was like, 'Red or white wine?' and I was like, 'Tequila! Do you know what I've been through? Do you know how many hours I've been in this corset? How long I've been in these damn shoes? Tequila!'”
Lizzo also shared that she went to the gala last year with her $55k flute. But she claimed that photographers were rude to her. “I had this plan to play the flute and do the whole intro [of a classical piece] but I got nervous and I only played it once because all the photographers were heckling me. They were like, 'You're putting us to sleep with the flute!’ I was like, 'OK?' In my mind I thought everyone was going to be transfixed. I only played it once, only the first half of it. Then I posed and got the photos,” she noted.
However, Lizzo's comments about Met Gala weren't solely critical. “This is like prom for celebrities," she quipped. "My prom f***ing sucked. Now I feel like the Grammys and the Met Ball, they're like my prom.”
‘Purple is your color’
Meanwhile, Lizzo’s pre-Met Gala dinner party look got attention on Instagram after she posted a few pictures there.
