James Gunn is the 'creative force' behind Superman reboot as he's both writing and directing movie
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: James Gunn is apparently doing twice the work on the 'Superman: Legacy' film for DC Universe because he is both scripting and directing it. With only a few films left in the DCEU that will be released in 2023, the series is nearing its conclusion. But Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-CEOs of DC Studios, are working on a brand-new DC Universe.
The pair revealed the premiere dates for the DC Universe's first motion pictures and television series in late January 2023. The first chapter, 'Gods and Monsters', will be followed by the announcement of more projects later in the year. 'Superman: Legacy', for which Gunn is officially writing the script, is one of the confirmed movies. It is yet to be announced who will play Man of Steel.

'Super nerd and he’s super creative'
In a recent interview with Comicpop, Tom King, the creator of the DC Universe and a writer for DC Comics, appears to have revealed that Gunn is in fact directing the new Superman reboot. DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery have not yet released any statements regarding this report. During the interview, King said, “I mean, it’s tough because, there’s stuff I can talk about, and stuff I can’t… It’s a totally fair question. I mean, James Gunn is a super nerd and he’s super creative, right? He’s the writer and director of the Superman movie and he’s sort of the creative force behind all of this, him and Peter Safran. And he reached out to a group of screenwriters and myself, fantastic, amazing… whose names he’s put out there, to work on making these movies and TV shows as good as they can be.”
What do we know so far about the new installment?
'Superman: Legacy' was the first new DC Universe movie that Gunn confirmed was in development before the title was even revealed. Gunn has repeatedly emphasised that even though it would be a reboot, it won't be an origin story. Nevertheless, this time around, the Man of Steel in the DC Universe adventure will be younger. Simply said, this version of the comic legend will be Superman in his formative years. Gunn has also made it obvious that this young Clark Kent will already be acquainted with a number of significant DC figures. Although he isn't entirely inexperienced as a crime fighter, he still has a ways to go before becoming the well-known comic book hero.
