Is Whoopi Goldberg done with 'The View'? Host shocks everyone by walking away from co-hosts mid-segment during Miranda Lambert discussion
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Miranda Lambert was recently called out fans for scolding a group of women who were taking selfies while she was performing on stage at a concert, and this turned out to be the hot topic on 'The View', with co-hosts weighing in on the matter. However, in the middle of the segment, Whoopi Goldberg walked away from her co-hosts.
On the episode on Tuesday, July 18, A frustrated Goldberg expresses her thoughts about how Lambert was disrespected while performing, but Sunny Hostin disagreed, pointing out that the tickets to the Country singer's concert cost $757. Goldberg said that she would have demanded respect if she were in the same situation as Lambert.
‘Give me the respect’
Goldberg usually gives all the co-hosts on ‘The View’ an opportunity to discuss a topic before weighing in, but that was not the case this time around. After Alyssa Farah Griffin chipped in, Goldberg said, “If they paid money for the tickets, they came to see her. So, if she’s singing, at least a little respect so that you acknowledge that if you can see her, she can see you too.” Sara Haines and Griffin agreed with Goldberg, but Hostin did not.
Hostin said, “I’m not split on this at all. The expensive tickets in the VIP section that they were in are $757. I’m going to take as many selfies as I want if I’ve paid $757. I’m sorry, just me.” Although Hostin received a round of applause from the audience, Goldberg was not impressed.
Whoopi Goldberg walks away
“Stay home. If you’re going to spend $757 to come to my concert, then give me the respect of watching me while I’m doing my thing, or don’t come!” said Goldberg as Hostin tried to defend her case once again. Before Hostin could finish her statement, Goldberg begins to walk off the stage, surprising everyone. Her co-hosts ask her where she was going but Goldberg continued walking, turning around for a second, and said, “I’m leaving ya’ll.”
The camera followed Goldberg as she walks to the audience and says, “Because I…I want to take a picture with this marvelous woman who is 91.” Goldberg then kneels down next to the elderly woman and pulls out her phone to take a selfie. There is a collective cheer and "aww" from the audience as well as the co-hosts before Goldberg announces, “And we’ll be right back,” as the segment comes to an end. It’s safe to say, Tuesday’s segment wasn’t the day where Goldberg left ‘The View.’
